Vehicle Story

This garage-kept 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 MK II has been owned by the same family for more than 50 years. In the early 1980s, it was repainted in a different color and outfitted with a custom fabric interior. Features include chrome bumpers with over-riders, a hood scoop, a passenger compartment cover, aftermarket speakers, wire wheels with knock-off center caps, and a trunk-mounted luggage rack. Under the hood is a 2,912cc inline-6 engine that routes power through a 4-speed manual gearbox and the rear wheels. Refinished in silver with a matching removable hardtop over a two-tone blue cloth interior, this BT7 2+2 roadster is available now and comes with service records and a clear title.

The seller believes this car was originally green and that it was painted and reupholstered approximately 40 years ago. Its silver exterior is accented with brightwork trim and features chrome bumpers with over-riders, a hood scoop, a driver-side mirror, a black passenger compartment cover, a trunk-mounted luggage rack, and a pair of exhaust finishers below the rear bumper.

A set of 15-inch wire wheels with knock-off center caps and tires with black sidewall lettering connect the car to the road. The seller states the car has been sitting so they recommend getting new brakes and tires.

The cabin is furnished with two-tone patterned blue fabric on all four seats, the dash pad, door panels, front center armrest, rear trim panels, and the inner surface of the removable body-color hardtop. Aftermarket rear speakers have been installed in the second row. Wear is visible on the carpeting covering the center tunnel. According to the seller, the ignition cylinder is functional but currently hanging because it has not been screwed into place.

The oval-shaped gauge pod contains a 120-mph speedometer, 6K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level.

Power from the carbureted 2,912cc I6 is delivered to the road by a 4-speed manual transmission and the rear wheels. The engine has been worked on by the same mechanic for several years and comes equipped with a new battery. According to the seller, the engine runs smoothly, but dies after a certain amount of time, possibly because it needs a new fuel filter.

Service records are included with the sale.
