Vehicle Story

This 2001 Ford Mustang Bullitt is finished in Highland Green over a black leather interior and is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.  The car was originally sold in Minnesota, where it resided until 2003, when it was relocated to California.  It later spent time in Nevada before moving to Utah in 2016, where it has been since with the current owner.  Equipment includes traction control, a custom exhaust system, and a power driver’s seat.  Located in South Jordan, Utah, this Mustang is now offered with a clean CARFAX report on a clear Utah title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Highland Green and is 1 of 3,041 Bullitt Editions for the 2001 model year.  Features unique to the Bullitt Edition include special badging, a brushed-aluminum fuel door, and molded front mudguards. Modifications include darkened taillight lenses, mesh inserts for the front grille and hood scoop, and a shortened antenna. Minor rock chips can be seen on the bumper and hood; photos are provided in the gallery.

Factory 17” five-spoke forged aluminum Torque Thrust wheels are mounted to Sumitomo tires on all four corners.  The car has slotted and cross-drilled brake rotors, and it rides on Koni shock absorbers and struts that were replaced 6 months ago.

The interior is fitted with black carpeting and black leather bucket seats.  The leather on the driver seat is worn on the side bolster but is not tearing.  Interior trim is accented in brushed aluminum with special door sill plates, pedal covers, and shifter ball.  The center console also contains a numbered placard indicating this car as number 2,281 in the production sequence.  A small scratch is present on the stereo display, and the volume button operates sporadically.

Instrumentation is held within a retro-design gauge cluster and includes a 150-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer along with supporting gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure.  The digital odometer reads just under 90k miles, of which about 3,500 miles have been added by the seller over four years of ownership.

The 4.6-liter V8 is the original to the vehicle and was factory-rated at 265 horsepower.  A five-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels with an upgraded Exedy clutch, installed by the prior owner. Additional features include a factory limited-slip rear end and an aftermarket cat-back custom exhaust system.  Oil changes have been performed consistently over the four years of the seller’s ownership, though the seller indicates that it has a minor oil leak.

Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.

The CARFAX report illustrates no accidents or damage on record.  The exhaust system was checked in 2016 and the vehicle was serviced in 2019 according to the documentation shown on the report.  It last passed a Utah state safety inspection in September 2020.

The reserve has been removed! I am truly excited for all of you bidders. Whomever wins the auction is getting an amazing car. I’ve had it for over 4 years now and have only seen one other 2001 in the entire state of Utah. And in the mustang line up at local car shows, which I go to all the time throughout the summer, I’ve never seen another 2001 Bullitt. Time to make history!

A little trivia for all of you. Since it’s 2021 now, the 2001 Bullitt is now considered a modern collectible/classic, so not only is it fun to drive and show off, but it will only appreciate in value in years to come....truly an awesome investment. Also, in 2001, Ford only made about 5,600 Bullitt’s, with a little over 3,000 in dark highland green, the color of the 1968 mustang fastback in the Bullitt movie. Ford did not produce the Bullitt again until 2008, which leaves the 2001 a highly sought after production year due to the rarity and also being the first production year of the Bullitt. There are other rumors as well about the Bullitt competing too closely with the 2001 Cobra so Ford downplayed the Bullitt’s horsepower. As you read more about this car, the cooler it gets!

Thanks for the bids everyone! Whomever lands this car will be very popular at your local car shows. It’s always fun telling the story of Steve McQueen in the 1968 movie Bullitt, and how this is a tribute car to that movie. Their eyes light up in excitement. And by the way, I just lowered the reserve again. Good luck!

Hi everyone! I’m the owner of the Bullitt and am looking forward to passing it onto the next owner that will love it as much as I do. Just a quick heads up that I just lowered the reserve on this beauty so keep those bids coming!
