Vehicle Story

This 1968 Ford F-100 pickup is a long bed Styleside example that was originally purchased for use on a ranch in Texas prior being used as a driver by its second owner who now offers the truck in restored condition with 61,778 miles on the odometer. Power is produced by a 300ci inline-6 cylinder engine paired with a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission which was swapped in place of the original plant at an unknown date and the truck is equipped with mechanical brakes and steering. Located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, this 2-owner 1968 Ford is offered with a clean title in the seller's name.

Finished in what appears to be Peacock Blue (M1638), the seller reports that the body was repainted while under prior ownership at an unknown date. Exterior features include slatted wood side panels on the bed, a black bed liner, squared-off wheel well openings and white pinstriping along the side of the body to match the white bumpers and grille.

Steering and braking systems are both mechanically operated and equipped to handle a set of paint white wagon-style steel wheels wrapped in thin whitewall tires. Suspension is standard for the model year and consists of a leaf-sprung solid axle rear end with a coil-sprung independent system on the front.

The interior is outfitted in a mix of blue, black and white with white vinyl upholstery over bench seating, matching door skins, steering wheel and headliner and black carpeting with a black dash pad. An aftermarket JVC stereo head unit comes mounted in the dash and additional equipment includes a heater/defroster, manually cranked windows, vent windows and an aftermarket foot-shaped gas pedal.

Instrumentation is framed by the stock  3-spoke steering wheel and consists of a set of three horizontally opposed dials including a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. the 5-digit odometer is reported to show 61,778 miles, however, it is unknown whether or not the number is accurate.

A 300ci inline-6 cylinder engine was swapped in place of the original 240ci plant and comes paired with a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission dressed in signature Ford blue finish. The date of the swap is unknown but the engine bay appears to be in well kept factory-looking form and the seller notes no issues with running and driving performance.
