1969 Jaguar E-Type

This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series II E-Type is a British-built two-door roadster that received a cosmetic restoration as well as a completely overhauled suspension. The bushings, shock absorbers, and tie rod ends were replaced, and the four-wheel disc braking system received new pads. Under the hood, the 4.2-liter inline-6 has rebuilt dual SU carburetors and is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in Pale Primrose over a Cinnamon vinyl interior, this Series II is now offered with a tonneau cover, a hood cover, and a clear Maryland title in the seller’s name.

The E-Type was built in Coventry, England beginning in 1961 with a Series II debuting in 1968. Various cosmetic updates were applied for the new generation including the removal of glass headlight covers, a new wrap-around rear bumper, larger front indicators, repositioned taillights, and an enlarged grille. This E-Type from 1969 was fully repainted in Pale Primrose under prior ownership and had its hood repainted in 2021. The windshield has been replaced and the rust-free body is accented by chrome brightwork for the bumpers, headlight enclosures, window trim, triple windshield wipers, door handles, and luggage rack, with new dual polished stainless steel exhaust pipes exiting at the rear.

Chrome wire 15-inch wheels with Jaguar-branded center caps are wrapped in newer tires at all four corners. Chassis work includes work to the independent suspension, with a rebuild of the bushings, shocks, and tie rods up front, and replacement shocks, springs, and bushings in the rear. The four-wheel disc braking system has refurbished calipers, new rotors, and new pads including the emergency brake. The seller has provided images in the photo carousel of suspension components being refurbished before reinstallation.

The two-bucket cockpit is fitted with newer Cinnamon vinyl upholstery and matching carpeting as well as a black dash. Amenities include a push-button radio, a center armrest, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and a currently inoperative analog clock in the center of the dashboard.

Instrumentation comes in the form of a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 85k miles.

The clamshell hood opens to reveal the 4.2-liter inline-6, which is connected to rebuilt SU carburetors and a new porcelain-coated exhaust manifold. Recent maintenance includes the replacement of hoses, belts, and ignition components, along with resetting the valve clearances. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 4-speed manual transmission.
