Vehicle Story

This two-owner 1991 Acura NSX all-aluminum supercar was manufactured in Tochigi, Japan in January 1991 and sold to its first owner in Nokomis, Florida later that same year. Power for this unmodified NSX comes from a mid-mounted 3.0-liter C30A VTEC V6 paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. This NSX has been Florida-owned since new and garage-kept by the seller for 22 years. It features factory-correct fit and finish along with newer Kumho tires, upgraded cross-drilled and slotted brake rotors, and extensive service records. Finished in Formula Red over an Ebony leather interior, this first-year NSX is now offered with the aforementioned service history, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.

Engineered as part of the New Sportscar Experimental project in the 1980s by Honda Motor Company, the original NSX supercar was developed under the direction of Shigeru Uehara with input from Formula One champion Ayrton Senna. The NSX first launched in 1990 in Japan and 1991 in the United States as a two-door, two-seat, mid-engine supercar with an aluminum body. This example from the initial model year has been Florida-kept since new and has glossy Formula Red paint contrasted by a black cockpit. According to production data assembled on the NSX Prime forums, this example is 1 of 1,093 units produced for the 1991 model year with its color and transmission configuration. The seller has owned and garage-kept the vehicle since 2000 and preserved it in stock configuration inside and out. Body treatment includes a front chin spoiler, pop-up headlamps, recessed door handles, rear quarter panel intake vents, dual polished oval exhaust tips, and an integrated spoiler with an LED third brake lamp.

Silver-painted aluminum 5-spoke wheels measure 15 inches in the front and 16 inches in the rear and come wrapped in Kumho tires that have been driven approximately 8,000 miles. Braking is provided by a four-wheel anti-lock disc system with upgraded drilled and slotted rotors. Manual transmission 1991 NSX models did not come with power steering.

The all-Ebony, two-seat cockpit is comprised of leather-trimmed power-adjustable bucket seats, matching gathered door panels, and complementing red-embroidered floormats. Features include automatic climate control, a Bose audio system, power windows, power door locks, cruise control, and a center armrest with storage and an NSX identification plate. Aluminum door sill plates identify Honda Motor Company as the manufacturer along with the car’s serial number ending in #1688. A front storage area contains a space-saver spare tire. The rear trunk compartment is carpeted.

Instrumentation includes a 180-mph speedometer, a 9K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The 6-digit mechanical odometer reads 116,012 miles. The last mileage figure entered on the CARFAX report was 106,258 miles in November of 2017.

The 3.0-liter mid-mounted DOHC C30A V6 with VTEC variable valve timing was rated at 270 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque when new. Recent maintenance includes a valve adjustment and the replacement of the valve cover gasket. The timing belt and water pump were replaced approximately 19,000 miles ago and the air conditioning system was overhauled within the last 3,000 miles. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 5-speed manual transmission.

Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.

The CARFAX report shows accident- and damage-free Florida ownership since new. The sale will include service records.
