OVERVIEW
This 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS is powered by a ZZ2 350ci V8 crate engine backed by a 2004R 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Features include power brakes, power windows, a factory tachometer, an aftermarket AM/FM stereo, and a center console. This refinished black Impala SS with a black vinyl interior is available now and comes from the selling dealer with a clear title.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
The exterior was originally Ember Red but has been refinished in black. It features chrome bumpers, dual headlights, an aluminum grille, chrome mirror caps, full-length bodyside trim, SS emblems, a rear aluminum trim panel, and six taillights. The selling dealer notes that there are some paint imperfections, but that the body shows well overall.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
A set of 5-spoke American Racing wheels is wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
The front bucket seats, rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered with black vinyl. Features include black carpeting, a center console with an automatic shifter, and a storage compartment with an SS emblem. Additional features include power windows, power brakes, manual steering, a black dashboard with a black top pad, and an aftermarket AM/FM stereo. The selling dealer notes that the radio powers up but does not get reception. Additionally, there is wear on the front passenger-side seat and some threads are loose on the driver’s seat.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
A 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and warning lights for the coolant temperature, oil pressure, and generator are located ahead of the driver. A factory 6K-rpm tachometer is mounted above the steering column. A pair of aftermarket gauges for the coolant temperature and oil pressure are located under the dashboard. The odometer reads 61,355 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power is provided by a ZZ2 350ci V8 crate engine backed by a 2004R 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The selling dealer reports the previous owner stated that when he drove the car, he shifted the transmission manually. The car had been sitting for a while, so the selling dealer recommends inspecting it to be sure the lights, brakes, and other vehicle systems are in working order before driving any distance in it. Underhood features include power brakes, electric wipers, a 4-barrel Holley carburetor, an HEI distributor, chrome valve covers, a chrome air cleaner, and ram’s-horn exhaust manifolds. UNDERCARRIAGE
This Impala is factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by 4-wheel power drums. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be found in the carousel to the right.

This is a silly question unless you don’t know anything about cars other than liking them..you can install a adjustable linkage shifter bracket to allow shifting of a overdrive trans with a 2speed trans plate..the shifter in the car is simply a handle nothing else and you can even have 4 positions without the shifter gear Location indicators..todays modern cars with automatic transmissions have up-and-down buttons and even paddles back in the 1990s it was common for everything to be vacuum operated by or cable today it’s all electronics..
This looks like a really old update drivetrain from the 1990’s the 200r4 is a great trans with updated parts as the GN has proven ….this is a cool car but will need a lot of work to either bring it up to date now or return it to the 1960’s ..

This car , if you read the description, has a 200R4 4 SPEED automatic transmission, not the original 2 speed powerglide.
