OVERVIEW
This 1955 Ford Thunderbird convertible comes with two tops and receives power from a recently serviced 292ci Y-block V8 mated to a three-speed overdrive manual transmission. It has resided with the seller for nine years and in that time the ignition system and chassis have been worked on. Features include power windows and a power seat. Finished in Raven Black and equipped with a white soft top over a black vinyl interior, this first-year Thunderbird is now offered with a removable Raven Black hardtop, a California Car Cover, removed parts, and a clear Arizona title.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The reportedly rust-free body was repainted Raven Black (color code A) under prior ownership and is accompanied by a matching removable hardtop as well as a white soft top. Exterior features include chrome brightwork, an egg crate-style grille, a hood scoop, an antenna, rear fender skirts, and a dual exhaust system.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 15-inch wheels with Thunderbird hubcaps are wrapped in 205/75 whitewall tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The two-seat interior is fitted with a black vinyl power bench seat and black and white vinyl door panels. Amenities include power windows, lap belts, aluminum dash trim, a radio, and floor mats.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
Instrumentation includes a 150-mph speedometer, a 5K-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature, and warning lights for the oil pressure and voltage. The reportedly accurate five-digit mechanical odometer has rolled over and reads 697 miles, which is equivalent to 100,697 miles.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 292ci Y-block V8 has been maintained by the seller for the past nine years. The fluids and filters have been changed. Additional work includes a tune-up along with the replacement of the carburetor, fuel pump, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, electronic ignition, fuel filter, and timing chain. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted three-speed overdrive manual transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
The chassis was lubed within the last two months.
