Vehicle Story

This 1994 Acura Legend L sedan was acquired by the seller two years ago from the original owner and has received a recent tune-up, new brakes, and new filters. Powered by a 3.2-liter V6 paired with a 4-speed automatic transaxle, the car was originally sold in Palatine, Illinois, and has resided in Illinois since new.  Finished in Taffeta White over a Taupe interior, this Legend is now offered with a clean CARFAX report, owner's books, service records, multiple sets of keys and fobs, and a clear Illinois title in the seller’s name.

The body retains its original Taffeta White (NH-578) paint, with the exception of the rear quarter panels which are reported to have been professionally touched up.  A full detail was carried out at the Auto Spa in Chicago in March 2021, and the seller reports that the car is free of rust and only shows scratches on the sides of the front bumper and side-view mirrors. Exterior lighting has been upgraded with a Hikari HID headlight system and LED front turn signal bulbs. The front left fog lamp cover in the plastic air dam is missing.

Factory 15” machined aluminum wheels with Acura-branded center caps are wrapped in Westlake tires installed less than 5k miles ago.  Handling is managed by a double-wishbone suspension, and the car is equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes with Brembo pads and an anti-lock braking system.

The interior is fitted with Taupe (Type E) leather bucket seats with 2-position memory and matching carpet. The center console is trimmed in woodgrain applique and houses the shift lever and a pop-out cup holder.  Amenities include climate control, power windows, locks, and mirrors, a moonroof, cruise control, a Bose double-din AM/FM/cassette head unit with steering wheel controls, and a 6-disc CD changer in the trunk. The seller adds that a Compustar 2-way remote-start system (CS4905S-KIT) has been added.

Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The 6-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 133k original miles, and both the seller and the CARFAX report support this reading as accurate.

The 3.2-liter “Type I” V6 is original to the vehicle, was factory-rated at 200 horsepower when new, and is paired with a 4-speed automatic transaxle. The CARFAX report shows that an oil and filter change was performed in February 2021, along with a maintenance inspection and a tire rotation. The seller states that a tune-up was performed using OEM parts in 2020, which involved the replacement of the fuel and air filters, power steering fluid, and coolant. The water pump and a timing belt replacement was reportedly carried out by the prior owner.  Additional maintenance items have included installation of NGK spark plugs and wires, and replacement of the exhaust heat shield and the PCV valve.  The ABS light is illuminated at this time, and the power antenna mast does not fully extend.

Additional undercarriage photos can be found in the gallery.

The CARFAX report shows no history of accidents or damage and Illinois registration from new. Sets of keys and fobs, service records, and owner's books will go with the car.

A simply beautiful flagship sedan. These are appreciating as we've begun to see clean examples gain more and more recognition as collectible cars. Hope it goes to a great home.

@Z3fan - Thank You for asking this question. The last owner had completed the timing belt, water pump, and I believe all 2-3 belts (Accessory/AC/power steering etc. belts) as well all at once. What I have been told when you are in that deep inside the engine replacing the T-belt its better to also replace the water pump - so yes both were done along with the major belts. The miles that he stated was closer to 115-120k miles approximately. Please let me know if you have any follow up questions for me. Happy Bidding! :)

@epegoblue – WOW! What a beauty! The chrome lettering has stood the test of time unlike the gold lettering on so many others. Good luck with the sale! ...

@Epegoblue - Thank You so much for your kind words. Yes, it has indeed become a time-capsule/timeless example of a great Acura Legend. I think when I bought it from the previous owner I realized the details he put in during the sale and I told myself I would be as consistent with it. The other major reason in my opinion of the current condition, especially the interior/leather condition, was due to being garage kept each and ever opportunity I had to protect it from external elements (rain, moister, etc.) Previous owner stated that he refuse to drive it during those conditions so I tried to do the same; which results in what you see today. Also - keep in mind, this car was insured, but mostly driven 6 months or less out of the year. Daily driver (not a weekend warrior by any means) but due to having multiple cars at the time I was able to drive it in limited capacity. I believe if you review the attached Carfax It would confirm that the car was driven annually under 1000 miles . Hope this helps answer your question! ----- LASTLY---- EVERYONE - We are coming near under a 1 day left of this 7 day auction. I am proud of what this car represents and the details and pictures provided. I have tried to answer as many questions as possible that were asked. I would like to once again humbly request each of you interested in bidding within the last day or so to continue to review the details on this post and ask me any and all questions about this Acura. Looking forward to the lucky winning bidder! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

@Flyneggz – @Giediprime - Of course no problem. Yes it does NOT effect the braking system - as in the brakes hit very good especially due to brand new brake (rotors/pads) installed 2020. As far as you stating does the ABS engage, to me that is the brake peddle gently kicking back when compressed and as far as I know that is happening. I have not really tested it as it would best be tested in gravel surface or wet surfaces. I do not usually drive this in the rain its garage kept most of the time I had it. Also, when I do drive it I drive it normally where I do not have to slam the brakes for the ABS to engage. Please confirm if this help clears any doubts/questions. Everyone - Please do not hesitate to ask me even the smallest (silly) questions, I am responding to each and every question as fast as I am able to so that you are comfortable enough to make a bid on this Acura Legend. I do not wish or want anyone to feel uncomfortable or unsure or assume ANYTHING. I want to make this a transparent and fair deal who ever the winner is. I was always taught to be honest and that's what I live by. Thanks for reading! ...

Thanks for responding...I feel you answered my concern sufficiently. Best of luck with the sale!!!

UPDATE: Please note, I recently found the 3rd key - or what's called "Valet" key. So a total of 3 keys, 2 Acura Key/keyless fobs, and 2 -2way remote starter key/keyless fobs aftermarket. Let me know if anyone has any questions on that. :)

@Halo – Hi there, you mentioned in the description that the paint is original except for the rear quarter panels, which were professionally touched up. Can I ask why both sides needed touching up? Thanks ...

@Halo - Thank You for your comment. Yes, the entire car is original paint and I had that verified with the dealership to make sure there wasn't anything repainted. I decided to touch up the rear quarter panels as I saw small dot of rust (inside panel only) and its common or known for these. I wasn't going to touch it up, but I spoke to many professionals and bloggers in the Acura Legend world/dealership as well and they stated if I dont make a move on this now it will become much worse. So I had a professional shop near me touch both sides up to protect it ; which was done back in 2019 when I first purchased the Legend. Its similar to getting the front/rear bumper touched up from scratches is the best way I can describe it or was described to me. ----- Also, I had the entire car (not the engine/under carriage) buffed out at the same time since I was already spending alot of money on that. Please continue to ask questions if you have any for me! Thank You everyone for reading!

@Giediprime – Hello Seller...have you done any investigation as to what is needed to repair the ABS system? ...

@Giediprime- Hello there! Yes, I had asked the dealership to review the issue as the light recently turned on during my FEB 2021 oil change/inspection. During the initial inspection they had said it could be either of the sensors on the wheels. They said in order to do a detailed inspection and confirm if its that or if its the ABS system would cost about 1+ hr. labor, just to check. I would have considered doing this prior to selling, but I have already spent alot of money on maint on this Legend and figured the next owner could fix that as it does NOT effect the braking system. The Legend had new brake/rotors installed in 2020. Please let me know if you do have a follow up question on this.

@em689 – My goodness! Another Legend! I want to buy every one of them! This one is in a great shape and it looks like it will go for way more than my budget so I'll have to wait till the last day to bid. ...

@em689 - Thank you for your kind words! I have put in my blood and sweat on this piece of work. I am having a very difficult time to even take pictures or consider selling this, but my wife is very upset with me having multiple cars. I really hope this goes to a true enthusiast and pray/hope this person truly enjoys it as much as I have. Also to note, shockingly, the Acura still has alot of power bring a 20+ year old car. I don't drive it as often as I'd like, but when I get the chance I try to take it on the highway or even open roads. It is super quick and responsive. There has been times I am near or over 100 MPH and no shakes no noises its as if I am sitting in 1st class of an airplane. Honda#Acura#forLife#

@tysonhugie – This is gorgeous! Great presentation and an exceptionally clean Legend sedan. Good luck with the auction. ...

Dear TysonHugie, - Thank you so much for your kind words! This excellent example of an Acura Legend is considered a antique: that is registered under "antique" in the state of IL. & is covered under SAFECO - antique insurance up to 15,000$ if anything should happen to it. Also, a few highlights I wanted to provide to you and others who are curious about this vehicle: -Has the original Acura keys that came with the car (2 copies) - Included is a brand new 2 way remote starter -professionally installed by a shop that not only starts the car - trunk pop, and key less entry. - Recent dealership inspection and oil change along with tire rotation. The inspection report is clean and I can share that as well - no surprises. -Major maint has been completed (preventative) , especially the Timing belt/water pump by previous owner prior to selling. Per detailed discussions from owner back in 2018-2019.
