Vehicle Story

This 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Berlinetta is a mostly original 74k-mile example with factory air conditioning, turbine wheels, and removable glass T-tops that has been upgraded with a Hurst dual-gate shifter and a modern audio system. It is powered by a 350ci V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission and features a Rochester carburetor and a recently-replaced alternator and water pump. Finished in brown over a tan interior, this Camaro is now offered with spare parts and a clear Indiana title in the seller’s name.

The body retains its original brown finish with tan pinstriping added and its removable glass T-tops. The seller reports that there is evidence of respray around the T-tops and body is free of rust, the car will come with storage bags for the tops.

Factory 14” turbine wheels are wrapped in Mastercraft Avenger G/T raised-white-letter tires of unknown age. The front suspension, brakes, and steering assembly were rebuilt with new links, shocks, and polyurethane bushings. The springs are from a Chevrolet Camaro Z28.

The interior is fitted with tan vinyl and cloth bucket seats with matching door panels, dash, and carpet, all reported to be in good original condition aside from some separation on the headliner. A Hurst dual-gate shifter has been installed, and the original shifter is included with the sale. Amenities include cruise control, a tilt steering wheel, and factory air conditioning which has been converted to R134A and is reported to work well. The sound system is a modern AM/FM/CD head unit with Bluetooth connectivity and new speakers, and the trunk is carpeted and houses a full-size spare.

Instrumentation is framed by a 4-spoke steering wheel and consists of a 130-mph speedometer, a 7k tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The gauge panel has a brushed aluminum trim surround, and the seller states that the analog clock is functional. The 5-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 74k miles, 1,400 of which the seller has added over five years of ownership. Mileage is reported to be accurate.

The matching-numbers LM1 350ci V8 is equipped with a Rochester carburetor, new AC Delco alternator, new water pump, new battery, and replacement belts. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 3-speed turbo 350 automatic transmission.

Additional photos showing the underside are available in the gallery.

The sale includes the car’s factory shift lever, two rebuilt front brake calipers, rear deck, both chrome door handles, and the T-top storage bags.
