Vehicle Story

This 2000 Mazda MX-5 Miata is is an NB generation example finished in Twilight Blue Mica over a Beige interior which is said to be largely unmodified with the exception of an aftermarket air intake and a set of Koni suspension dampers paired with unknown springs. Power comes from a 1.8-liter inline-four developing 140 horsepower which is paired to a 5-speed manual, and the car is said to drive well according to the selling dealer, with an odometer reading of just 70,000 miles. The CARFAX report indicates three previous owners and shows this Miata was first sold in Missouri before moving in Illinois in 2013.

Twilight Blue Mica was offered for the 1999 and 2000 model years of the MX-5 Miata before being replaced by Midnight Blue Mica for 2001. This MX-5 sports a contrasting beige soft top which is manually operated, and sits on the stock 5-spoke, 4-lug wheels which are shod in matching Yokohama Avid T4 tires. Ride height appears conservatively lowered thanks to orange Koni suspension dampers paired with unknown red coil springs.

Bodywork is free of major imperfections with the exception of a series of dents along the passenger-side front fender arch.

The beige interior which matches the convertible top complements the blue exterior. Like much of the rest of the car, the interior is largely untouched from stock, and still includes the factory Bose CD player and tape deck which is wired in with a set of Bose speakers to comprise the premium sound system. The steering wheel is the factory Italian Nardi design, and behind it sits the gauge cluster which contains an 8,000-rpm tachometer with a 7,000-rpm redline, a 140-mph speedometer, and smaller instruments for coolant temperature, oil temperature, and fuel. The shift knob for the 5-speed manual has been swapped for an aftermarket design which includes the stylized M from the Miata script at the center, and the parking brake lever is also aftermarket.

A car cover is included in the trunk.

The Mazda BP4W 1.8-liter inline-four is responsible for motivation, supplying 140 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 119 pound-feet of torque at 5,500. The engine is start to start and idle without issue, while the slick-shifting 5-speed manual operates with smooth precision. A California CARB-legal Typhoon air intake system by K&N is fitted, while the remainder of mechanical equipment is believed to remain stock.

Undercarriage photos reveal light corrosion forming on steel suspension components and the dampers.

@911AXER – DOES IT HAVE IT'S ORIGINAL CLUTCH? WHAT IS THE CONDITION OF THE BRAKES? ...

Likely original clutch, but not certain. Brakes pads have decent life. By my non-mechanic trained eye I would conservatively estimate 25% pad life remaining.

@MCas – Hello. Are their any issues with the suspension? The car appears to sit very low. Thanks ...

It has some 'better than stock' springs and shocks mentioned in the writeup that set the car about a half inch lower than stock. In stock from these are very low cars. I have owned one and it felt as low as I remember.
