Vehicle Story

This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop was custom-built for the owner of Bakersfield Speedway in Bakersfield, California, and is powered by a Chevrolet 383ci stroker paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Upgrades include a set of Boyd Coddington wheels, and the interior features conveniences such as a digital gauge cluster, a Bluetooth stereo, and a leather-wrapped aluminum steering wheel. Finished in two-tone yellow and white over a tan vinyl interior, this Bel Air is accompanied by build documentation and offered on a clear California title in the seller’s name.

Originally manufactured in Oakland, California, and finished in two-tone India Ivory and Harvest Gold (631), this 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air was refinished in yellow and white and at some point during its life, and is reported to have been built in its current configuration for the owner of Bakersfield Speedway. The body is described as largely original and factory brightwork has been retained for the bumpers, grille, side moldings, light bezels, and trim.

Boyd Coddington five-spoke polished aluminum wheels are wrapped in performance tires, and the brakes are reported to have been serviced.

The cabin is home to reupholstered bench seats in tan vinyl with matching door panels and carpeting. Items of note include embroidered floor mats, aluminum instrument panel trim, a Bluetooth-enabled stereo system, a Hurst floor-mounted shifter, and an aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel.

A digital gauge cluster has taken the place of the car’s factory analog units.

The 383ci stroker is reported to have covered 10k miles and features an upgraded MSD ignition system as well as an Optima Yellow Top battery. Power is sent to a Ford nine-inch rear end, which is said to have 1,500 miles on it, through a 4-speed manual transmission.

The sale includes build documentation in the form of invoices, receipts, and other paperwork. A video is available for viewing below.
