Vehicle Story

This 1973 Chevrolet Corvette project is a largely unmodified sports coupe that comes from over three decades of ownership. It received recent service to the fuel system, braking system, and fluids, but remains in need of additional work to the electrical system, air conditioning, and other areas to make it road-ready. Equipment includes body-colored removable T-tops, a dual exhaust system, and Rallye wheels. Power comes from a 350ci V8 paired with a console-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission. Finished in Silver Metallic over a black leather interior, this Corvette is now offered with parts receipts and a clear California title in the seller’s name.

This Corvette received a repaint in Silver Metallic in 2012 and is described as having a rust-free body with long-term California history. The seller has owned the vehicle for 32 years and recently carried out a refurbishment in early 2021 to achieve roadworthiness after an extended storage timeframe. Body finishes are straight with good gloss, and the chrome bumpers and other trim accents are noted to be in good condition. Features include removable color-matched T-tops, vented front fenders, and a dual exhaust system. The seller states that there is an issue with the retractable headlight actuator and the windshield wipers are not functioning at the current time.

Steel silver-painted Rallye 15” wheels with chrome trim rings and center caps are mounted to BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires. The brake, rotors, master cylinder, and calipers were replaced in summer 2021 and the shock absorbers were changed at the same time.

The interior is fitted with black leather bucket seats matched to replacement door panels and carpeting. The car is equipped with air conditioning that is not currently operational, the power windows are slow to operate, and the older Kenwood AM/FM/cassette radio is not connected.

Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges in the center stack for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 48k miles, which the seller believes reflects 148k actual miles. True mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The 350ci V8 was factory rated at 255 horsepower, breathing through an Edelbrock air cleaner and having received mechanical attention in spring 2021 including the radiator, exhaust, spark plugs, water pump, belts, carburetor, choke, fuel tank, and sending unit. The seller states that there is work remaining to be carried out with the electrical system including the headlight actuators. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 3-speed automatic transmission.

The seller has and will include parts receipts.

Had it already when we purchased in 1989. Explanation we were given was that it had been used in a radio theft sting operation by LAPD, no accidents.
