Vehicle Story

This award-winning 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door hardtop has been with the same owner for 30 years and has undergone a full frame-off restoration. Upgrades include new stainless brake and fuel lines, tires, taillights, paint, weather-stripping, chrome, exhaust, and interior. The radio has been converted to AM/FM and the bumpers have been re-chromed. The car comes with a new 265 ci V8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor backed by a 3-speed column-shift transmission with overdrive. This two-tone Matador Red and white 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air is available now and comes with a build sheet and a clear title.

The body has been restored and refinished in two-tone Matador Red and white and has chrome and stainless trim, emblems, and handles. A chrome front bumper with bumper guards, round headlights, and a chrome grille are present in the front. The windshield has a shaded brow line. A chrome bumper with bumper guards, pointed taillights, and oval exhaust tips can be found at the rear. Stone guards have been added to the front fenders. A manual antenna is on the passenger fender.

A set of Matador Red wheels wearing full hubcaps are wrapped in wide-whitewall radial tires. Matador Red wheel skirts are mounted over the rear wheels.

The interior has been fully restored with patterned red and ivory vinyl. Red carpeting with contrasting black and red floor mats covers the floorboards. The interior of the trunk is painted in matching white with a new rubber trunk mat installed. A floor jack, mounting hardware, and a spare wheel are in place.

The dashboard is refinished in gloss Matador Red to match the exterior and houses a 110-mph speedometer cluster, headlight and windshield wiper switches, the ignition, climate controls, and a cigarette lighter. The five-digit odometer currently reads 4,093 miles, but the seller states the true mileage is 104,093. An upgraded AM/FM radio is in the factory opening. An original clock and speaker grill can be seen on the right side of the dashboard. A chrome tissue dispenser and traffic light viewer have been mounted to the dash. A Matador Red steering column with manual shift is topped by a matching three-spoke Bel Air steering wheel with a chrome horn ring.

The original engine has been replaced with a rebuilt 265ci V8 engine with hardened valve seats. According to the seller, it has accrued 250 miles since being rebuilt. The engine is topped with a four-barrel carburetor and is backed by a 3-speed column-shift transmission with overdrive. Finned valve covers with "Corvette" lettering, an oil-bath air cleaner, cast iron exhaust manifolds, a generator, and hoses with GM logos are present. A single-circuit master cylinder, radiator, vacuum-operated windshield wiper motor, and battery can also be found under the hood.

The chassis has been refinished in matte black. New stainless brake and fuel lines have been installed along with new brake shoes and hardware on the four-wheel drum brakes. Full-length dual exhausts can also be seen. A new gas tank has been added as well as a front stabilizer bar.

A build sheet is included with the sale of the vehicle.

@DanaD – Is this car all steel and no patch or bondo used. Thank you ...

Yes there is filler, necessary to get the body straight. Owners have been in restoration biz 60 years and car has been an award winner many times over.
