Vehicle Story

This 1966 Ford Mustang custom coupe rides on a set of 17-inch American Racing wheels and is powered by a bored-over 351ci Windsor V8 backed by an upgraded 5-speed manual transmission. This first-generation pony car has been in Florida long-term and garage-kept by the seller for 11 years, showing clean, glossy body panels. Refinished in metallic red over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang is now offered with build receipts and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.

Building on the success of the first model year of the original pony car, the 1966 Mustang was introduced with revisions to the grille, moldings, and other exterior trim. This Mustang coupe from that year was originally Tahoe Turquoise but was repainted metallic red under prior ownership and has been garage-kept in Florida by the seller for the last 11 years. Body features include fog lamps, dual side mirrors, rocker panel moldings, and a dual exhaust system. The seller notes that there is a crack in the paint on the hood and the door jams show some imperfections.

New 17-inch American Racing five-spoke wheels are surrounded by new Kumho Ecsta tires. The braking system uses discs up front and drums at the rear.

The cabin is furnished with black vinyl low-back bucket seats, matched to the lap belts, door panels, dash, carpeting, Ford logo-embroidered floor mats, and rear seat. Features include a radio and a custom center console. The trunk contains a plaid vinyl mat and a spare tire.

Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, a 6K-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 26K miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The upgraded 351ci Windsor V8 is bored .030 over and installed in a matte black engine bay with chrome dress-up accents. Performance components include an Edelbrock Performer intake, a Holley 650-cfm carburetor, and other parts as shown in a list in the photo carousel. While originally configured as an automatic car, this Mustang now sends power to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission and a Motive Gear ring and pinion differential gear set. The seller states the car is not equipped with air conditioning or power steering.

The sale includes build receipts.
