This 1949 Chevrolet fire truck was a state-owned utility vehicle in Oregon long-term before being driven from Oregon to California for film production purposes. It is powered by an inline-6 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and comes equipped with a reconditioned I6 engine, siren, pumps, bed planks, and utility storage compartments. Finished in yellow over a gray vinyl interior, this fire truck is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear title.
Chevrolet’s line of Advance Design pickup trucks launched in 1947 on the General Motors A platform with a more aerodynamic design language than the preceding AK Series. This fire truck from 1949 was used long-term in Oregon until being relocated to southern California in 2017 for a film project. The yellow body shows patina on the paint and the decals. Features include a spotlight, tow-style mirrors, running boards, a cab-mounted siren, and storage compartments in the rear utility bed. The selling dealer states that the pumps work, but there are no hoses.
White-finished steel wheels are wrapped in tires with black sidewall lettering.
The cab features a gray vinyl bench seat that shows age-related wear. The metal dash is worn and accented with brightwork. The flooring is covered with a black rubberized material. Controls are available for the spotlight, siren, and other vehicle functions.
Instrumentation includes an 80-mph speedometer along with gauges for other vehicle systems. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 23K miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The reportedly reconditioned Blue flame 235ci I-6 is said to run well per the selling dealer. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted manual transmission.
