This 1964 Mercury Comet Cyclone was with its late owner for 11 years and is now being offered by a family friend. It is powered by a K-code 289ci 4-barrel V8 engine backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Features include manual steering and brakes and a factory tachometer. This refinished Carnival Red Mercury with a white vinyl interior comes with a magazine write-up, documents, receipts, and a clear Arizona title.
The body was refinished in 2014 in the factory-correct Carnival Red, as verified by code J on the trim tag. It features chrome bumpers, quad headlights, a chrome grille, Cyclone badging, rocker and wheel well trim, and six taillights set in a chrome panel. The seller states that there are imperfections in the paint on the lower rocker areas and the front and rear quarter panels have slight bubbles.
A set of 14-inch steel wheels with chrome simulated wheel hubcaps is wrapped in radial tires.
The front bucket seats, rear seat, trim, and door panels are upholstered in white vinyl. Features include red metal trim, red carpet with carpeted floor mats and Cyclone logos, a floor-mounted manual shifter, a factory center console, and a red steel dashboard with a red top pad. The seller states there are small tears and noticeable wear marks on the outside of the driver’s seatback.
A 120-mph speedometer and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, amperage, and coolant temperature are located ahead of the driver. A factory 6K-rpm tachometer with a Cyclone logo is mounted to the top of the dash pad. The odometer reads 78,276 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.
Power is provided by a K-code 289ci 4-barrel V8 backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. Chrome underhood features include the valve covers, air cleaner, and coil.
This Comet was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Manual drum brakes provide the braking power. The steering is manual as well.
