Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS two-door hardtop generates power through an upgraded LS2 6.0-liter V8 coupled with a 4L65-E four-speed automatic transmission. The seller, a certified General Motors mechanic, has owned the vehicle for 25 years and has treated it to upgrades over the years including Budnik wheels, a Wilwood brake package, and a custom interior. Refinished in two-tone Corvette Red and Fawn over a tan vinyl interior, this first-year Chevelle is now offered with build documentation and a clear duplicate California title in the seller’s name.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

This Chevelle two-door hardtop from the initial model year has been customized by the seller over the course of the past 25 years. It was fully repainted by a California-based hot rod builder named Lucky 7 Customs in a two-tone finish of Corvette Red and Fawn. The beltline moldings and badging have been removed and the exterior has been dressed with rocker trim, chrome bumpers, dual mirrors, and a dual-exhaust system.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Polished Budnik wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Eagle tires.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior features a custom center console, a color-matched dash inlay, and a Budnik steering wheel. Seating is provided by tan vinyl bucket seats up front and a bench in the rear, all matched to the door panels, steering wheel, carpeting, and floor mats. Amenities include Vintage Air air conditioning, a heater, and a newer AM/FM/CD head unit.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Vehicle information is provided via a set of newer Classic Instruments gauges with a speedometer, tachometer, and auxiliary readouts. The odometer reads 4K miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The engine bay holds an LS2 6.0-liter V8 that was custom-built by the seller, who is a trained General Motors mechanic. Dress-up accents have been installed throughout. Upgrades include a custom intake, Wilwood brake components, and more. Service has been completed annually per the seller. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted 4L65-E four-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Front QA1 coilovers, tubular suspension components, and a Ford nine-inch rear end with a limited-slip differential have been installed. The braking system has been upgraded to include slotted and ventilated discs along with red Wilwood calipers. Additional photos showing the underside are available in the carousel to the right.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

The sale includes build documentation.
