Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This reportedly rust-free 1961 Willys Wagon is powered by a Ford Coyote 5.0-liter V8 engine backed by a Ford 6R80 six-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive transfer case. Features include an Old Air Products climate control system, power steering, and power disc brakes. Finished in two-tone blue over a two-tone turquoise vinyl interior, this Willys is available now and comes with a clear California title in the seller's name.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

The body was stripped to bare metal, coated with an epoxy primer, and finished in two-tone metallic blue and light blue. Features include metallic silver bumpers, new window glass and seals, chrome grille trim, dual side mirrors, chrome side trim, and rear tailgate trim with a license plate light.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of Ford F-150 16-inch aluminum wheels is wrapped in 285/75/16 Thunderer Trac Grip M/T tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The front seat and dual folding rear bucket seats are upholstered in two-tone turquoise vinyl. Features include gray carpet with black rub strips; a gray headliner, window trim, rear trim panels, and door panels; metallic light blue interior sheet metal and steel dashboard; a custom center console with an automatic shifter; and a floor-mounted transfer case shifter. Additional features include power steering, power brakes, a tilt steering column, a JEGS 22-circuit body wiring harness, an Old Air Products climate control system, and manual windows. The interior tub has been sprayed with LizardSkin thermal liner and Kilmat sound-deadening material has been installed.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

Instrumentation consists of a combination gauge with a 140-mph speedometer with GPS and a digital odometer as well as gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The odometer reads 56 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a fuel-injected Ford Coyote 5.0-liter V8 engine with an SCT tuner and backed by a Ford 6R80 six-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive transfer case. Features under the hood include a cold air intake, a remote transmission cooler and fan, a Ron Francis engine wiring harness and fuse panel, an air conditioning condenser with fan, electric wipers, and an aluminum radiator.

UNDERCARRIAGE

The body of this Willys Wagon has been mated to a Ford F-150 "Highboy" chassis with a part-time four-wheel-drive Dana 44 high-pinion front axle and a Ford nine-inch rear drive axle. Features include a Ford F-150 BorgWarner 4417 manual transfer case, four-wheel power disc brakes, and power steering. All of the chassis and suspension parts have been blasted to bare metal and refinished in matte black. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the gallery to the right.

Any challenges with rear wheel clearance around the tires? Have you test driven it in any environments that push the limits on the reared travel? Thanks.
