OVERVIEW
This 1960 Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite is a British-built convertible powered by a 948cc inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It comes equipped with whitewall tires and a removable top with detachable side curtains. Recent mechanical work under the seller’s ownership includes service to the starter and ignition and the cooling and fuel systems. Finished in red with a black top over a red vinyl interior, this Bugeye Sprite is now offered with a vinyl tonneau cover and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
EXTERIOR – FEATURES
The red exterior finish is accompanied by a black retractable soft top with detachable door curtains and plastic windows. Exterior features include chrome bumpers with guards and a dual-outlet exhaust.
EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES
Steel 13-inch wheels with bright center caps are wrapped in whitewall tires.
INTERIOR – FEATURES
The cockpit is fitted with dual red vinyl bucket seats with ivory piping. Amenities include an audio system, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and a heater.
INTERIOR – GAUGES
The Smiths instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer, a 6K-rpm tachometer, a fuel gauge, and a combination gauge with readouts for the coolant temperature and oil pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 74,144 miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The forward-tilting bonnet houses a carbureted 948cc inline-four. Recent maintenance includes the replacement of the water pump, ignition, distributor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, heater valve, starter, exhaust, and fuel pump. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
UNDERCARRIAGE
