1970 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS 454

OVERVIEW

This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS two-door hardtop reportedly underwent a rotisserie restoration in 2011 and is powered by a Holley-upgraded 454ci big-block V8 mated to a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes chrome Magnum 500-style wheels, accent striping, a center console, full gauges, and a dual exhaust system. Refinished in Cortez Silver and black striping with a black vinyl roof over a black vinyl interior, this second-generation Chevelle is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer with a copy of the original build sheet, which documents that it is a true SS 454, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The body was repainted Cortez Silver with accompanying black striping and topped with a black vinyl roof during the restoration process. Exterior features include hood retention pins, brightwork, and a dual exhaust system. The selling dealer notes that the paint shows well but has some blemishes upon closer inspection.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Chrome 14-inch Magnum 500-style wheels with SS center caps are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A raised-white-letter tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The interior is upholstered with black vinyl fold-forward bucket seats, matched to the door panels, dash, carpeting, headliner, and rear bench seat. Features include embroidered floor mats, a push-button AM radio, a heater, a tilt-adjustable steering column, and lap belts. The trunk is lined with a vinyl mat and contains a spare tire. The selling dealer notes that there is some static from the radio.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, a clock, and auxiliary gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 87,432 miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The non-numbers-matching 454ci big-block V8 in the matte black engine bay breathes through a chrome-finished air cleaner. It is equipped with a Holley carburetor and sends torque to the rear wheels via a console-shifted TH400 three-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE
