OVERVIEW
This 1948 Chrysler Windsor limousine was cosmetically and mechanically restored and repainted in its reportedly original color under previous ownership in 1987. It draws power from a 250.6ci inline-six and sends it to the road through a semi-automatic transmission. Features include chrome bumpers, vent windows, a heater, and three-row seating. New rear springs and whitewall radial tires were recently installed. Finished in Regal Maroon over a maroon cloth interior, this C-38-series Chrysler is available now and comes with a clear North Carolina title in the seller's name.
EXTERIOR - FEATURES
As part of the restoration completed 35 years ago, the exterior color was changed from Fire Engine Red to the reportedly original color of Regal Maroon. Features include chrome bumpers, auxiliary front lighting, a two-panel windshield, bright trim, and coach-style rear doors.
EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES
This Chrysler limousine rides on a set of steel wheels with bright trim rings and Chrysler-branded hub caps and new whitewall tires.
INTERIOR - FEATURES
The cabin is furnished with three rows of maroon cloth seating that includes a fold-up second-row seat, tan broadcloth door panels, brown carpeting, and ribbed metallic trim. Features include vent windows, a column-mounted shifter, a radio, an analog clock, and a heater. According to the seller, the radio works but receives only one station and the heater control valve needs to be replaced.
INTERIOR - GAUGES
Instrumentation consists of a 110-mph speedometer and gauges for the coolant temperature, amps, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit analog odometer shows 86,869 miles, which the seller states is an accurate figure.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Power from the 250.6ci inline-six is delivered to the road through a hydraulically operated semi-automatic transmission and the rear wheels. The seller reports one of the valve lifters has a minor tick.
UNDERCARRIAGE

The outdoors pictures were made 7 to 9 days ago by a photographer sent by Autohunter. Some pictures of the car inside my garage were made probably one or two months ago. The transmission works fine - are you familiar with this type of semi-automatic transmission? The car starts easily and runs very well. As the information in the post says, there is a slight tick in one of the valve lifters. It has always been that way since the day I bought the car30 years ago. As indicated it is a large heavy car with the six cylinder engine so it is not a fast car. It will cruise all day long at 55 to 60. The engine does not smoke. The brakes are fine, no issues evident. The radiator and fuel systems work well - no problems that I am aware of. In some of the pictures you can see the b ack of the front seat pretty well and it is perfect. One of the jump seats (passenger side) has a few very small holes - perhaps from moths. There is nothing wrong with the carpet in the rear. I have always dressed up my cars by adding pillows and oriental carpets in the rear. I did not think to remove the carpet in the back for a picture, but if you think it is there to cover something wrong, that would not be the case. The car is driven very little. To Church on occasion, to local antique car events on occasion or short drives in the country on occasion. I don't think it has been in the rain or on a wet street in 30 or 40 years. Actually I don't even know if the windshield wipers work. There is a repair on the lower part of the rear seat - it was stitched up due to some sort of tear and that is pictured. That happened while in the hands of the 2nd owner., who restored the car. To my knowledge, I am the third owner since deliver to the orginal purchaser.
