This 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL550 roadster has driven 42,354 miles since new and comes with a color-matched power-retractable hardtop along with multiple option packages including the Premium 1 Package, Driver Assistance Package, Sport Wheel Package, Active Body Control (ABC) suspension, and a Magic Sky Control roof. Power under the hood comes from a twin-turbocharged 4.7-liter V8 paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. This SL was originally sold in California and subsequently relocated to Tennessee, then later to Kansas where it recently received service and a clean bill of health. Finished in black over a black leather interior, this R231 SL550 is now offered with a CARFAX report with a clear Kansas title in the seller’s name.
The R231-chassis SL debuted in model year 2011 using an aluminum body for lighter weight than its predecessor, despite being both longer and wider. This example from 2013 is finished in black and features a color-matched power-retractable hardtop with a panoramic glass roof with Magic Sky Control electrochromic glass. Exterior lighting is assisted by bi-xenon headlamps with daytime running lamps, along with LED brake lamps at the rear. The body is accentuated by vented front fenders, color-matched sideview mirrors, and a carbon fiber diffuser at the rear which splits the dual polished exhaust outlets.
Sport Package-optioned AMG five-spoke 19” aluminum wheels are wrapped in tires with good tread life remaining. Driving effort is facilitated by power steering, and an Active Body Control (ABC) suspension equipment provides advanced handling along with four-piston front and single-piston rear brake calipers gripping ventilated rotors.
The interior is trimmed in an all-black theme, featuring power-adjustable and heated and ventilated black leather bucket seats and leather appointments for the door panels, with a matching dash and carpeting. Optional amenities include the Premium 1 Package which adds a back-up camera, active parking assist, and adaptive seat cushions. In addition, this SL has Driver Assistance which provides adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and blind spot monitoring. Woodgrain trim is featured throughout the cabin including the rim of the steering wheel. Power conveniences include automatic climate control, COMAND infotainment, Harmon Kardon surround sound, and Distronic Plus cruise control. The dashboard has contrast stitching and features an optional analog clock at the center.
Instrumentation is framed by a multi-function steering wheel and includes a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and inset gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 42,354 miles, which the seller states is an accurate reading.
The twin-turbocharged 4.7-liter V8 was factory rated at 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The CARFAX states that service was performed in September 2020 involving an oil and filter change, a maintenance inspection, a battery replacement, and an alignment. Additional maintenance was performed previously by Mercedes-Benz of Music City in Nashville including a 40,000-mile service in 2018. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a 7-speed 7G-Tronic automatic transmission and a console-mounted shift lever. The seller notes a new auxiliary battery was recently installed.
The CARFAX report shows minor damage reported in July 2014 to the left front with no additional details available. The sale includes the original books for the car and 2 keys.
