This 1979 Citroen 2CV Charleston four-door is a French-built sedan with a full-length retractable canvas top, flip-up side windows, and reupholstered seating. Power comes from a 602cc flat-twin motor which received a recent carburetor rebuild and is connected to a 4-speed manual transmission. Finished in two-tone with an ivory body and burgundy fenders over a light gray cloth interior, this 2CV is now offered with service records, restoration documentation, and a clear South Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The French-built 2CV debuted as an economy family car with a history dating back to the late 1940s, and in the 1970s the model featured flip-up side windows and a full-length retractable black canvas top. This 2CV Charleston from 1979 was repainted in two-tone burgundy and ivory with a gecko pattern on the passenger side rear fender, accented by mud flaps and a European front license plate. The seller notes that that the body is rust-free and the rear fenders are fiberglass replacements. Both bumpers are color-matched in ivory, and brightwork consists of the headlight assemblies, side view mirrors, and door handles.
Color-matched 15” steel wheels feature polished center caps. The front end was recently aligned and received a bushing replacement per the seller.
The interior is fitted with reupholstered white diamond-pattern light gray cloth bucket seats up front and a matching bench in the rear, with maroon vinyl-clad door panels, a black upper dash, and rubber floor covering. The trunk floor is covered in a hinged sheet of plywood which lifts to reveal a spare tire in a storage compartment.
Instrumentation includes a 120-km/h speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 86k kilometers, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The air-cooled 602cc H2 flat-twin motor received a carburetor rebuild within the last 500 miles and the electrical system has been serviced. The motor carried a factory rating of 29 horsepower. Power is directed to the front wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission.
