This 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is a meticulously maintained example with approximately 55,000 odometer miles. Power is sent to the rear wheels by the factory's original 403ci V8 paired with an automatic transmission and equipment includes power steering, brakes, and windows. Recent refreshments performed by the seller over the past 6 months include a carburetor and window regulator rebuilds, all new fluids, and replacement of suspension components along with a new gas tank, exhaust system, tires, and more. The car is offered for sale in Andover, Massachusetts with a clear title in the seller's name.
Finished in Starlight Black (19) with gold accents, the exterior features a new slanted front facia for the model year fitted with 4 headlamps along with a rear-facing shaker scooped hood. The seller reports that the car was repainted under prior ownership roughly 5 or 6 years ago and has been well-maintained and garage kept since to preserve condition.
Factory correct gold honeycomb wheels are equipped with a new set of raised white letter tires over standard power front disc brakes and power steering. The gas tank and exhaust system have been replaced and the suspension has been refreshed throughout with new shocks all around, new rear leaf springs, and new front and rear sway bar links and bushings.
The black and gold theme is extended into the car's interior which features black carpeting and vinyl upholstery over bench seating with gold accents in the dash. Fresh weather strips have been installed on the driver and passenger sides and the power window regulators were both reconditioned by the seller within the past 6 months.
Instrumentation consists of a 100-mph speedometer with a recently replaced cable and a new 6k-rpm tachometer with an integrated analog clock along with dials for coolant temperature, oil pressure, battery voltage and fuel level. The 5-digit odometer is reported to display around 55,000 miles which are believed to be accurate and original.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels by the numbers matching and original 403ci (6.6-liter) V8 producing a factory-rated 185hp in tandem with an automatic transmission. Recent refreshments under the hood were completed 6 months ago and include a rebuild for the Rochester Quadrejet 4-barrel carburetor, new subframe and radiator core mounts, and fresh fluids and filters for both the engine and transmission.

And the biggest question is is this a SE Smokey and the Bandit edition car or is this a clone. Was mention in add Bandit styl, do you have PHS documentation that it is an SE car ? ...
The engine is original. I do not have PHS documentation, but it was sold to me as a special edition. My homework on the vehicle shows the car is “as built” and has all the original details that would make it a SE. I hope this helps you out a little with your questions. Other than needing a new AC compressor are there any other issues with the vehicle? I noticed it was smoking pretty good in the video.
