This 1970 Plymouth Barracuda two-door hardtop received a repaint in Plum Crazy along with a replacement shaker hood, custom wheels, and a reupholstered interior with a Hurst shifter. Power comes from a numbers-matching 340ci V8 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller has owned the vehicle for 13 years and describes it as a solid driver-grade muscle car, having received an oil change in April 2021 and demonstrating good roadworthiness. Finished with 340-specific decals over a black vinyl interior, this third-generation Barracuda is now offered with a fender tag, a build sheet, service records, original ignition components, and a clear Illinois title in the seller’s name.
The Barracuda model initially debuted in 1964 on the Chrysler A-body as a two-door hardtop fastback, but beginning in 1970 it transitioned to the E-body which was shared with the Dodge Challenger. This example from that model year was repainted Plum Crazy under prior ownership and features color-matched bumpers, a replacement six-pack shaker hood, fog lamps, color-matched side view mirrors, a spoiler, and black 340 decals in black on the rear quarters. The seller notes that the finishes are not show-quality but good driver grade, and the windshield is newer. As part of the refurbishment, the trunk pan, driver side floor, and rear lower quarter panels were replaced. The trim around the windows and doors has been replaced, and there are dual polished exhaust outlets at the rear.
Polished aluminum wheels are mounted to Road Hugger Radial G/T raised-white-letter tires.
The interior features reupholstered black vinyl bucket seats with matching door panels, dash, and carpeting. Amenities include a wood-rimmed steering wheel and a push-button radio.
Instrumentation is housed within a woodgrain veneer applique and includes a 150-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage, and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 54k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The numbers-matching 340ci V8 is equipped with a 3x2 carburetor setup, Mopar Performance valve covers, and MSD ignition system. The seller notes that the motor has a small oil leak, and an oil service was performed in April 2021. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission and a Hurst shift lever.
The sale includes a fender tag, service records, and a build sheet.
