This 1950 Ford F-1 pickup retains a largely original steel body which received a fresh coat of Meadow Green paint, replacement wooden bed planks, and refinished chrome as part of a restoration. Power is sourced from a 239ci flathead V8 which is backed by a 3-speed manual transmission, and additional items addressed during the refurbishment included refreshment of the color-matched dash, replacement of the headliner, and installation of newly-reupholstered tan cloth bench seating. This first-generation F-Series pickup is now offered with a clear California title in the seller’s name.
The first-generation F-Series debuted in model year 1948 in the full-size pickup truck segment, with year-over-year changes occurring through 1952. For 1950, slight design changes were made to the sides of the bed and other aspects of the exterior, and this F-1 from that year was the recipient of a body-off restoration with factory-specific intentions. The body retains its original steel sheet metal wherever possible and incorporates new hardware, a respray in the original Meadow Green color, and black running boards with aluminum step plates. The bed planks were replaced along with associated hardware, and the grille, handles, moldings, and badging were refinished. Additional features include aftermarket turn signals, fog lamps, and dual exhaust outlets at the rear.
Color-matched steel 16” wheels with Ford-branded bright hubcaps are wrapped in newer BFGoodrich Silvertown wide whitewall tires.
The interior is fitted with reupholstered tan tweed cloth and vinyl bench seating, complete with lap belts and a replacement matching headliner. The metal dash was color-matched in Meadow Green to the exterior and a rubber flooring material was installed in the footwells, along with replacement pedals. Equipment includes an AM/FM radio, manual-crank windows, and wing windows.
Instrumentation includes a 100-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads about 1k miles which reflects mileage driven since the completion of the restoration. True mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The 239ci flathead V8 has its original oil bath air cleaner and was factory rated at 100 horsepower when new. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission.
