This 1964 Chevrolet C10 short bed was built and professionally lowered by the current owner in 2008 and features custom touches throughout including nicely upholstered bucket seats, an early Impala-themed interior, and a customized dash with Dakota digital gauges. Powered by a 327ci small-block Chevrolet V8 paired with a TH-350 automatic transmission, this example is a multiple show winner and features custom paint, performance headers, power steering, and replacement glass. This C10 is located in Huntington Beach, California and is offered with build receipts and a clear California tile in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in a custom true blue and features a white cab top, one-piece door glass, and chrome accents for the shaved front & rear bumpers, grille, and side-view mirrors. Additional exterior features consist of white complementary accents for the hood as well as side striping, custom 1937 taillights that are shortened and molded into the bedside, hidden tailgate latches, a body-matching storage box, and embossed Chevrolet lettering on the tailgate. The fuel tank has been relocated underneath the bed.
Wheels are painted blue and wear baby moon hubcaps and polished lips. Handling is assisted by power steering and power front disc brakes with drums in the rear. The seller adds that the rear bumper was flipped upside down, brought in tight, lowered approximately 1.5", and attached via welded bolts and custom brackets. A custom fabricated "gap filler" was used to create a seamless look.
The interior is trimmed in black leather over bucket seats with complementary gray carpeting in the footwells and body matching door and custom dash panels. Features include stainless steel door handles, manual window cranks, replacement glass all around, and an actuator behind the seat that opens the box in the bed.
Behind the 58-62 Chevy steering wheel, Dakota Digital instruments are housed within an aluminum bezel and communicate information via a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The mechanical odometer shows approximately 3k miles, though true chassis mileage is unknown.
Power comes from a 327ci small journal V8, originally rated at 350 horsepower, that has been outfitted with Offenhauser finned valve covers and is reported by the seller to start easily and run strong after approximately 3k miles. A TH350 3-speed automatic backs the small block, which is equipped with an Edelbrock intake. The power is sent to the rear wheels through an open 12-bolt rear end with 3.73 gears and is said to handle highway speeds without issue. The cooling system has been upgraded with an electric fan.
