This 1957 MG Magnette is a California rust-free 4 door sedan powered by a 1500 cc 4 cylinder engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. This left-hand drive car is equipped with the Varitone option, supplying it with a two-tone paint job and a larger rear window. Its past includes spending about 30 years in a private temperature-controlled museum before the seller acquired it. In addition to a cooling system flush, the seller reports that it received many new parts in 2020, including brake shoes, a master cylinder, a clutch part, and brake hoses. That same year the fuel pump, fuel lines, and cooling hoses were also replaced. Finished in two-tone silver and blue over black vinyl seats, this MG has 41K miles and a clear California title.
Originally, the car featured a light and dark gray two-tone paint job. It currently wears a silver over blue two-tone paint scheme. The MG has upper chrome trim along with the windows and chrome bumpers front and rear. The Varitone option it was originally equipped with has provided it with a larger rear window.
The steel and body-color-matched wheels hold center-mounted chrome hubcaps, which are wrapped in new Firestone tires. The MG also has chrome side mirrors mounted on both sides of the front fenders, and opening vent windows on the front doors. The seller reports that the rubber gaskets in the door jambs need to be replaced.
The interior is fitted with black vinyl seats, door panels, and sun visors. It is also finished with a white headliner, and arm rest in the back seat.
The speedometer is located above the odometer. Next to it are the temperature and fuel gauges. While the odometer displays 41K miles, the true mileage is unknown. The seller reports they have put 300 of these miles on it, and the odometer gears were replaced since 2020. The dashboard has a wood-accented surface and a late model stereo installed. The seller reports that the clock doesn't work and the "loose steering should be fixed". Down below it is a floor-mounted shifter.
The 1500 cc inline 4 cylinder engine was factory rated at 68 horsepower and 86 ib-ft of torque. The seller reports many new parts and rebuilds since 2020 on the cooling, fuel, transmission, brake, and ignition systems. In addition to a cooling system flush, the cooling hoses were replaced. In terms of the brakes, it has received new brake shoes and hoses as well as a new master cylinder. The transmission also received a new clutch part. For fueling, the fuel pump and fuel lines were replaced. A rebuilt distributor has also been installed on the MG.
The sale includes the original and unused jack.

@Kambul – How does it run? Why hasn’t the “loose steering “ been repaired? ...
It runs great. Very nice touring car on the freeway. It's underpowered as all Magnettes seem to be. I have has a few things fixed but the mechanic I use doesn't have the time to work on my car any longer and as I'm not a mechanic, I can't do it myself.
