1974 Triumph TR6

This 1976 Triumph TR6 two-door convertible was manufactured in Coventry, England in December 1974 and is equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-six paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. This TR6 received recent maintenance in the form of an oil change and fluid check-in 2021 and comes equipped with features including wire wheels with knock-off caps, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and woodgrain trim. Finished in red with a black top over a reupholstered black vinyl interior, this TR6 is now offered with a boot cover, a shop manual, service records, and a clear Maine registration in the seller’s name.

The TR6 model first debuted in 1969 with a lifespan through 1976 and came configured as a two-door roadster with aesthetics designed by Karmann of Germany. This example from the final model year was repainted in red and features bright trim for the bumpers with guards, headlight rings, and door handles. The black convertible top has been replaced and features a plastic rear window, and other exterior treatment includes a chrome-finished luggage rack is installed on the trunk, flag decals on the rear quarters, and quad polished exhaust outlets at the rear. The seller notes that there is rust above the driver-side rear taillight as shown in the photo carousel.

Wire 16” wheels the knock-off lugs are wrapped in 205/70-series Toyo 800 Ultra Touring tires. The suspension is comprised of a semi-trailing arm independent rear, and the steering setup is rack and pinion. Braking is handled by discs up front and drums in the rear.

The interior is fitted with reupholstered black vinyl bucket seats, matched to the door panels, map pockets, dash pad, and carpeting. The dash itself is trimmed in woodgrain which is carried through to the shift knob. Amenities include a three-spoke steering wheel, a vinyl shift boot, a manual choke, and a heater. The audio system is a non-functioning AM/FM cassette, with dual speakers in the rear.

Instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and accompanying gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 37k miles, although true mileage is unknown.

The dual-Weber-carbureted 2.5-liter inline-six has chrome-finished K&N air cleaners and received an oil change and fluid check-in in early 2021. This powertrain carried a factory rating of 101 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque when new, and power is fed to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transmission without optional overdrive.
