Vehicle Story

This 1991 GMC Syclone single-cab 4WD pickup shows only 15,000 miles and was purchased by the seller in 2012 from the previous owner who had owned it for two decades. GMC produced 2,998 units over a two-year run ending in 1992 and this black-on-black example (#2878) is powered by a turbocharged 4.3-liter V6 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The truck features the standard body kit with black grille, fog lights, and red Syclone graphics, as well as a lowered stance, custom exhaust, and BFGoodrich g-Force T/A tires over 16" wheels. Trimmed in black bucket seats with red accent piping, this Syclone is offered with its original invoice and window sticker, a clean CARFAX report, a custom fit car cover, a spare set of keys, and a clear Illinois title in the seller's name.

GMC produced the Syclone with the help of Production Automative Services as a performance version of the Sonoma. This truck is cloaked in monochromatic black with red GMC badging and graphics. The front end features amber turn signals integrated into the bumper and fog lights in the lower front fascia, while in back a black cover protects the unlined cargo box. The custom exhaust system's pair of octagonal metallic tips exit below the passenger side of the rear bumper. Per the seller and a gallery photo, there is a white rub mark at the lower edge of the bumper cladding on the driver side.

The truck rides on the stock 16" aluminum alloy wheels which are wrapped in BFGoodrich g-Force T/A tires and is reported to never have been driven in rain or snow nor sustained any damage during the seller's ownership. Minor visible blemishes were acquired under previous ownership.

The interior consists of black cloth bucket seats with red accent piping and integrated headrests embroidered with the word "Syclone" in red, while a gray dashboard and carpeting round out the color scheme. Behind the black two-spoke steering wheel is a bank of instruments that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a boost gauge, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and battery voltage.

Controls for the climate system and a radio with a manually-adjustable equalizer and a cassette player occupy the center stack. The center console features a pair of vertically oriented cup holders and the shifter for the 4-speed automatic transmission. The odometer shows 14,973 original miles.

A turbocharged and intercooled 4.3-liter V8 is paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a transfer case which sends 35 percent of available power to the front wheels and 65 percent to the rear. Mechanical modifications include a K&N performance air filter, an ABS deletion kit for improved braking feel, and the aforementioned custom exhaust.

The above photo shows the truck's rear differential, Bilstein shocks, and the pair of exhaust pipes mated with the vertically-mounted muffler.

In addition to its original invoice and window sticker, a clean CARFAX report, a custom fit car cover from Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories, and a spare set of keys, this Syclone comes with promotional VHS tapes and brochures.
