This 1965 Chevrolet Corvette is finished in blue with a white racing stripe over a red interior. Built in January of 65, it was converted to a Grand Sport inspired show car but retained its factory powertrain and suspension. It was later purchased by the seller in 2002, who commissioned the conversion into a vintage track car by 3R Racing of Englewood, CO. Full receipts of the conversion are available as are original parts, all of which are included in the sale. Power comes from a 350ci V8 mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. Listed as a Colorado historic vehicle, the Corvette is fully street legal and is now offered with service records, NCRS documentation, a racing logbook, and original parts, on a clear Colorado title in the sellers name.
Finished in a race-inspired livery consisting of Admiral Blue with a single white racing stripe spanning the length of the car, it was refinished in 1993 when it was restored to its original show condition. The seller notes various chips, fiberglass spidering cracked fender flare from track use. Other exterior features include white side exhaust pipes, cowl mounted tachometer, period sponsorship decals, and pop-up headlights.
15" five-spoke wheels are wrapped in Hoosier racing tires measuring 265/9.5 on all four corners. The braking system consists of discs on all four corners with stainless steel hoses and a dual master cylinders.
The red interior features Corbeau racing seats, equipped with Simpson harnesses. Additional safety equipment includes a roll bar installed behind the front seats, FAST cool suit system, and a Fire Bottle brand 5-point fire suppression system. The car retains the factory dash and center console, housing a polished Hurst shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission. The factory original seats upholstered in red vinyl are included in the sale as well.
A three-spoke steering wheel with black rim sits ahead of the factory gauge cluster which includes an original speedometer, tachometer, water temperature gauge, and others. A 10k Autometer tachometer is mounted to the steering column with adjustable shift lights on both sides, and an oil pressure gauge mounted below. All gauges components in the dash function with no issue with the exception of the clock mounted in the center. A factory radio is retained in the original location and is fully operational.
The car is powered by a built 350ci V8 engine featuring roller rockers and an Accusump oil system. The fuel system has been upgraded with an ATL 15-gallon fuel cell, electric pump, and new hoses. and cooling has been improved through an oil/water heat exchanger cooling system, along with dual passenger aluminum radiator with electric fans. The 4-speed manual Super T-10 transmission features a Hurst Shifter and Tilton triple-disc clutch with lightweight flywheel sending power to the rear axle with a 4:11 posi-traction rear differential.
Additional underbody photos are available in the gallery.
