This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu two-door convertible SS tribute has been customized with aluminum wheels on low-profile Sumitomo tires, an alarm system, a newer stereo, and full gauges. Under the hood resides a small-block 350ci V8 with Edelbrock valve covers that has been mated to a 3-speed Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Offering straight body panels, a reupholstered interior, rust-free brightwork, and a replacement black soft top, this second-generation Malibu is finished in red over a black vinyl interior and offered with a convertible boot and a clear Oregon title in the seller’s name.
The Chevelle and its fellow General Motors A-body counterparts received a second-generation design rework beginning in 1968 featuring a rounded beltline and tapered front fenders. The following year, minor changes were rolled out with revised front styling, a single chrome bar connecting quad headlights on the grille, and a slotted bumper with inset parking lights. This 1969 Chevelle was repainted in red with black lower rocker panels and outfitted with a replacement black canvas power-operated soft top. The brightwork is in good condition throughout, comprising the front and rear bumpers, grille, moldings, driver sideview mirror, 350 badging on the front fenders, Malibu script on the rear quarters, and dual polished exhaust tips exiting below the rear bumper.
Aluminum 17” five-spoke Torque Thrust wheels with polished lips are wrapped in Sumitomo tires with good tread life remaining. Handling is assisted by power steering and power front disc brakes.
The interior is offered in SS-tribute trim with reupholstered black vinyl bucket seats, color-matched to the center console, lap belts, door panels, crack-free dash, and carpeting. The dash and door panels have Malibu emblems affixed, and Amenities include an alarm system, tilt steering wheel, an AM/FM radio.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, an SS-trim 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. Additional aftermarket gauges are located in a pod beneath the dash. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 5k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The small-block 350ci V8 is fed by a four-barrel carburetor and has been outfitted with Edelbrock valve covers, an Edelbrock air cleaner, and a performance Mallory ignition system. The battery was replaced in November 2020, and power is fed to the rear wheels via a 3-speed Turbo 400 automatic transmission with a console-mounted shift lever.
The sale includes a black snap-on vinyl convertible boot.
