Vehicle Story

This 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 SportsRoof has been with the seller for 43 years and is one of 35,440 produced for the model year. Power comes from a well-maintained 351ci V8 paired with a Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission and standard and optional equipment includes power steering, power brakes, AM/FM radio, and a heater/defroster. The car is located in Hollsopple, Pennsylvania with 83,100 original odometer miles and is now offered with a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller's name.

Burnt orange paintwork was redone in 1978 and appears to be in good condition with the exception of some peeling on the hood and an inch-long blemish on the driver's side rocker panel. Exterior accents include black striping with matching black front and rear spoilers, rear window louvers, chrome brightwork, and a twin scooped hood.

Power steering is equipped and the wheels are 15-inch Cragar aluminum units wrapped in blackwalled tires and fitted over 4-wheel power brakes. Suspension is standard for the model year and consists of a coil-sprung independent front end with a leaf-sprung solid rear axle.

The interior is outfitted in tan with vinyl upholstery covering bench seats with a center console in-between as well as matching tan carpeting and door panels. Windows are manually cranked and all equipment is reported to be in working order including the wipers, heater/defroster, lighting, and AM/FM radio.

Instrumentation is all said to be working properly and includes a 120-mph speedometer and 8k-rpm tachometer separated by the fuel level gauge. Additionally, dials for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and alternator amperage are mounted in the center of the dash while the 5-digit odometer displays 83,100 original miles driven.

Power is provided by the original 351 V8 and automatic transmission with an upgraded camshaft and intake manifold to accept a 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor. The engine was rebuilt entirely at approximately 65,000 odometer miles and is reported to run well with no signs of smoking, leaking, or undesirable noises.
