Vehicle Story

This 1968 Chevrolet Suburban left the Fremont, California factory as a V8-powered half-ton model with two-wheel drive, according to its body tag. It is now a custom build finished in silver with pinstriping and a blue fabric roof cover over a silver, black, and white interior equipped with a wood slat headliner, air conditioning, Dakota Digital gauges, and the controls for an AccuAir air suspension. Under the hood is a 6.0-liter LS-series V8 that sends its power through an automatic transmission to the rear wheels. Available now, this custom Suburban comes with wiring diagrams and instructions as well as a clear New Mexico title in the seller's name.

The sixth generation of the Chevrolet Suburban debuted in 1967 with a new design that featured one door on the driver's side and two on the passenger's side. This particular Suburban is dressed in custom silver paint and a full-length blue fabric roof cover. Pinstripe details are found on the hood, front and rear fenders, and tailgate. The front end features round headlights inside of square housings, a one-bar grille with a red Chevrolet bowtie badge and amber turn signals, and a chrome bumper. Exhaust finishers exit the vehicle in front of the rear tires and the fold-down tailgate is framed by Dakota Digital taillights and a chrome bumper.

The pictures in the photo carousel to the right show the vehicle sitting above a set of 18" Vision Wheel Legend Series wheels, which are slowed by disc brakes from Classic Performance Products.

The cabin is furnished with black carpeting, black bench seats with black and white patterned inserts and coordinating door panels, and a headliner made out of wood slats accented with wood bow bars. Body-color accents are found on top of the door panels and on the dashboard, which features pinstriping on the glove compartment door and a black dash pad. Equipment includes manual windows, cruise control, an AC system from Vintage Air, a RetroSound radio, and an aftermarket shift knob.

Behind the aftermarket, three-spoke steering wheel is a set of white-faced Dakota Digital gauges that includes a 160-mph speedometer, an 8K-rpm tachometer, and readouts for the fuel level and battery voltage. The seller reports that there are 5,800 miles on the odometer, but the vehicle's true mileage is unknown.

In place of the original engine is a naturally aspirated LS-series 6.0-liter V8 with a blue Vortec-branded engine cover, alternator, and oil filler neck and cap. It is connected to a K&N intake with a blue filter and routes its output to the road through an automatic transmission.

According to the seller, the Suburban has a four-link suspension, an AccuAir air suspension system, and a tubbed rear end. Pictures of the truck from multiple angles are in the photo carousel.

The sale includes all wiring diagrams and instructions.

@1074Sig8 – Who or what shop actually built this Suburban? ...

I’m not sure who or what shop built it. I bought it a couple years ago. I could probably find out if you need me to. I own quite a few classics this is by far the most attention to detail car I have. I drive it 70 miles to the near mountain town to us all the time and drives like a dream .

@hd_riders_2003 – What transmission is in this? Thanks ...

I am 90% sure it is a 6L90. I did not build the car my self. I could put back on a rack and find out for sure but would be a couple of days im out of town until Monday evening. The car shifts and drives like a dream. This car is as legit as they come. It was a full frame off restoration and Zero corners cut!!! My cell phone # is 575-626-6221 if you have any questions dont hesitate to call or text.
