This 1928 Ford Model A is a custom-built roadster powered by a 350ci Chevrolet V8 featuring a Holley carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, and a Pertronix ignition system that sends its power to the rear end by way of a 3-speed General Motors THM400 automatic transmission. Finished in burgundy with a tan top over a reupholstered tan leather interior equipped with a Pioneer radio, a Lokar shifter, and woodgrain trim, this Model A is now offered with service records and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
This Model A two-door roadster's fiberglass body was made in California, painted burgundy and equipped with a tan cloth removable top. Monterey tree silhouettes with gradient backgrounds are painted on each side; additional exterior features include running board step plates, dual-bar bumpers, a chrome radiator shell, and dual polished exhaust outlets at the rear. Recent paintwork was completed from the cowl forward including the front fenders. The seller notes that there are some minor chips in the paint and that this roadster does not have side windows.
Chrome-finished 14-inch wire wheels with knock-off caps are mounted to Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in the front and Coker tires in the rear.
The interior is fitted with a tan leather bench seat and tan door panels complemented by carpeted flooring including mats and a lined trunk that houses the battery. Amenities include a Pioneer AM/FM/CD radio with remote control, a tilt-adjustable steering wheel, woodgrain dash trim, and a Lokar shift lever.
Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer along with auxiliary gauges for fuel level, water temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The 5-digit analog odometer reads 15K miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The engine bay is dressed in chrome and polished aluminum, and contains a Chevrolet 350ci V8 equipped with solid lifters, a Walker radiator, a Holley carburetor, a Pertronix ignition system, an Edelbrock intake manifold, Edelbrock valve covers, and an electric automatic choke. Power is directed to the back wheels via a 3-speed General Motors THM400 automatic transmission and a Chevrolet 10-bolt rear end.
Underpinnings consist of a Ford Mustang II front end, rack and pinion steering, and KYB struts in the rear. Braking is handled by discs in the front and drums in the rear. Photos showing the underside of the vehicle are available in the picture gallery to the right.
An oil change was performed in October of this year. Sale includes a book of receipts and service records.
