Vehicle Story

This 1969 Volkswagen Beetle is the recipient of a recently-finished cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment, which included a paint polish, rebuilt drivetrain, and ragtop sunroof. It is powered by a 1,800cc flat-four paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle, and recently received a carburetor cleaning, oil change, and tire caster. Finished in orange with a brown sunroof over a brown interior, this Beetle spent a year in a warehouse in Brazil, before recently moving to Boca Raton, Florida where it comes with import documentation and a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.

This Beetle has reportedly been garage-kept under current ownership and features include chrome bumpers front and rear, as well as chrome exterior Talbot Berlin mirrors, running boards, ragtop roof, and decorative trim along the body sides.

Porsche Cookie Cutter style 15” steel wheels are mounted to Good Year GPS 3 tires that measure 175-65/15 on all four corners. The vehicle is also equipped with a spare tire mounted in the cargo compartment.

The interior was completely redone and is fitted with Pro Car brown vinyl seats that match the carpet and door panels. The exterior paint is continued on the dash panels that have been shaved and smoothed.

Instrumentation is framed by a wood-rimmed Porsche OEM steering wheel and consists of a Porsche replica 200-km/h speedometer and fuel level gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 12,507 kilometers, which the seller reports represent mileage driven since the build. True chassis mileage is unknown.

The rear-mounted 1,600cc flat-4 was rebuilt under prior ownership by a specialist shop to 1,800cc.. Recent maintenance has included an oil change, carburetor cleaning, and brakes check. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual transaxle with a floor-mounted shift lever.

Undercarriage photos can be found in the gallery.

@Hunter27 – Do you know if orange was the original color, assuming it was repainted of course, and when repainted ? Thanks ...

This car was red before. This paint was made 4 years ago.

@Roger – This is one of the nicest 69's I have seen . Very tastefully done interior, clean engine bay. Love the Porsche style dash, one of the best I have seen. I'd love to own this VW Beetle. ...
