Ford brought back the Mustang Boss 302 for the 2012-2013 model years, with an altered exterior, interior, engine, brakes, and suspension, and created what it called at the time "the quickest, best-handling straight-production Mustang ever offered by Ford." This one-owner 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 rolled out of Ford's Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan and subsequently spent time in Mississippi, Canada, Washington, and Arizona, where it is currently located. It comes finished in Yellow Blaze Metallic Tri-Coat with black hood and side stripes over a black interior equipped with Recaro front bucket seats, an AM/FM radio with an MP3 and CD player, and power windows, locks, and mirrors. The power of the 5.0-liter V8 is routed to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox. Available now, this 28K-mile Mustang Boss 302 is offered with both keys, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Arizona title.
To differentiate the Boss 302 from other 2012 Mustangs, Ford redesigned its front fascia and grille, which features blocked-off fog lamp openings, and installed a front splitter designed to reduce drag and lift. It also matched the roof panel, available in black or white, to the color of the C-stripes on the sides of the body. This particular car comes dressed in Yellow Blaze Metallic Tri-Coat with a black roof, black hood and side stripes, and a black trunk-mounted spoiler.
The 19" wheels feature black spokes surrounded by a silver lip and come wrapped in 255/40 Michelin Pilot 4 S tires.
The cabin is furnished with black manual Recaro front bucket seats, black rear seats with headrests, black carpeting, and black door panels. Equipment includes power steering, windows, locks, and mirrors, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, a black cue ball-style shift knob, and an AM/FM radio with a CD player and MP3 playback capability.
The dashboard is accented with dark aluminum trim and houses Boss-specific gauges that include a 180-mph speedometer and a 9K-rpm tachometer with an integrated multi-information display as well as gauges for the fuel level and coolant temperature.
Ford equipped the Boss 302's 5.0-liter V8 with forged aluminum pistons, different connecting rods, a new intake, and revised camshafts, all of which contributed to an official output of 440 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox helps transmit the "Roadrunner" engine's output through the rear wheels.
The engine breathes through a quad exhaust system consisting of two side pipes ahead of the rear wheel openings and two rear outlets. The Mustang Boss 302 came from the factory with model-specific front and rear springs, adjustable shocks and struts with five settings, a 25-mm rear stabilizer bar, and Brembo 14" vented front brake rotors with 4-piston calipers and 11.8" vented rear rotors.
