This 1950 Pontiac Chieftain Silver Streak four-door sedan underwent a $25,000 restoration 15-20 years ago in Washington state and features a straight body, bright chrome and stainless-steel accents, and a refurbished interior. Under the hood resides a 268ci straight-8 paired with a 4-speed Hydramatic automatic transmission, sending power to the pavement via newer wide-whitewall tires. Finished in two-tone olive green and metallic dark green metallic over a gray cloth interior, this first-generation Chieftain is now offered by the selling dealer with a clear Pennsylvania title.
The Chieftain full-size model debuted in 1949 on the General Motors A-body platform as a coupe, sedan, convertible, and station wagon. This Chieftain four-door sedan from 1950 was repainted in two-tone with an olive green body and metallic dark green roof. The windshield is shaded by a color-matched windshield visor, and surrounding brightwork is reported to be in good condition and free of corrosion. This includes the bumpers, moldings, grille, headlight surrounds, and gravel guards.
Steel 15-inch wheels wear polished Pontiac-branded covers and are wrapped in wide-whitewall tires.
The dual-bench interior has been reupholstered in gray cloth and features color-keyed door panels and carpeting. Options include a push-button AM radio and an analog clock within the dash-mounted speaker.
Instrumentation surrounding the 100-mph speedometer consists of gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads approximately 33K miles, though true chassis mileage is unknown.
The 268ci L-head straight-8 was rated at 103 horsepower and is said to run and drive well. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 4-speed Hydramatic automatic transmission.
