Vehicle Story

This 1947 Plymouth Special Deluxe business coupe has been customized with a modified roofline, a reupholstered interior, chrome wheels, and a lowered suspension. Under the hood, the 217ci flathead inline-6 has been upgraded with custom headers and an Offenhauser intake, and power is sent to the rear via a replacement 4-speed 700R4 automatic transmission. The seller states that the vehicle has comfortable driving dynamics, optimal panel fitment, and show-quality gloss finishes. Finished in Tuxedo Black over a neutral-tone interior with gray cloth, white trim, and chrome accents, this Special Deluxe is now offered with a clear Texas title in the seller’s name.

The Deluxe full-sized sedan received a new generation in 1946 with two trim levels and a variety of option packaging. This Special Deluxe from the subsequent year was positioned as a higher-trim model and underwent customization including a chopped, lowered, and repainted body in Tuxedo Black. The headlights and marker lights were frenched in, the glass was replaced, and a custom dual exhaust system was been added at the rear. The bumpers, grille slats, and side moldings provide accenting brightwork and are noted to be in good condition.

Chrome-finished smooth wheels are mounted to Ironman tires with good tread remaining. The suspension has been lowered for a raked stance and improved handling.

The interior displays a two-tone black and white theme and has been customized with replacement gray cloth bench upholstery, a new headliner, a pearl white dash with chrome accents, and black carpeting. The factory three-spoke ivory-colored steering wheel remains installed, and side windows are manual-crank style.

Instrumentation is centered around a predominant 100-mph speedometer, a center-dash-mounted analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 2,400 miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The rebuilt 217ci flathead inline-6 was rated at 95 horsepower from the factory and is upgraded with an Offenhauser intake, dual carburetors, and custom headers. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted replacement 4-speed 700R4 automatic transmission.

Seller

Good morning, I would like to thank everyone for all the interest shown on my Plymouth. It is an amazing car that I have really enjoyed the entire time I have had it. This car not only looks awesome (in my opinion) but it is a pleasure to drive. It will run down the highway at 60-65 all day with two fingers on the wheel and you feel very relaxed. The paint and body work is just as nice as it shows in the pictures and the interior is spotless. As I said all of the driving and handling characteristics are extremely nice. The reason for selling is only due to limited room. I presently have seven and just bought a car I have been looking for about two or three years. ( 1936 Ford 3 window coupe) Anyway, thank you all again and if someone ends up with this car at the end of the auction I know you will enjoy it as much as I have. Have a very blessed day, Monte
