This 1962 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible is a rust-free southwest-region car powered by a 409ci V8 that has been upgraded with an Edelbrock carburetor, an MSD ignition system, and an oversized radiator with an electric fan. A replacement, Corvette-sourced 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission sends power to the Silvertown redline tires at the rear, and a reupholstered interior offers custom embroidered mats, an AM/FM stereo, and a modern alarm system. Finished in red with a white cloth retractable top over a reupholstered red vinyl interior, this third-generation Impala is now offered with a car cover, two convertible boots, and a clear Nevada title in the seller’s name. The vehicle had been previously sold on 10/28/21 and is being relisted after the winning buyer failed to follow through on their bid, through no fault of the vehicle nor seller.
The Impala full-sized model first launched in 1958 on Chevrolet’s B-body platform as a top-line trim for the Bel Air hardtops and convertibles, with longer, lower, and wider dimensions compared to its predecessors. The Impala name later became a standalone model, with exterior aesthetics transitioning to a boxier design and with trim levels expanding to include a Super Sport option. The seller reports that the car was resprayed in its original Roman Red (V)s sometime prior to taking ownership in 1995 and is beginning to show its age. The white cloth retractable top and its motor were replaced in 2015. Other exterior elements consist of chrome and stainless-steel bumpers, grille, window trim, rocker panel moldings, driver sideview mirror, SS branding, and dual polished exhaust outlets at the rear.
American Racing five-spoke wheels with polished lips are wrapped in Silvertown redline tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel power discs; steering is power-assisted.
The interior is dressed in all-red and was redone in 2015, offering reupholstered fold-forward bucket seating and matching lap belts, consistent with trim code 879. The door panels, padded dash, carpeting, and custom SS-branded floor mats are color-matched, and additional amenities include a bright ribbed dash panel, an internet-based alarm system with GPS location, and an AM/FM/cassette radio.
Instrumentation includes a sweeping 120-mph speedometer, a column-mounted 8.5k-rpm tachometer, a fuel gauge, and auxiliary under-dash gauges for coolant temperature, voltage, and oil pressure. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 97k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The 409ci V8 has a chrome-finished air cleaner, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, and an overhauled electrical system including the starter, MSD ignition system, and a newer alternator. Performance upgrades have been applied including Edelbrock carburetors, Edelbrock valve covers, and an oversized radiator with an electric fan, and power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed 700R4 transmission that was sourced from a 1987 Chevrolet Corvette. The seller adds that the vehicle is fitted with a transmission cooler and reports that the car drives well.

The sale includes a car cover and two convertible boots. A start-up video is available for viewing below.
