This 1995 BMW 840ci is a garage-kept 2-door coupe that has spent the last 16 years with the same owner and is powered by a 282-horsepower 4.0-liter V8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Modifications include a rebuilt exhaust; 18-inch BMW wheels; new mufflers, starter, alternator; and an aftermarket JVC head unit. Work performed within the past few years consists of replaced differential seals, suspension components, and dual batteries. Finished in Hellrot red over a tan leather interior, this E31 is now offered with extensive maintenance records and receipts, two keys, a spare wheel/tire, a toolkit, a protective bumper cover, and a clear Pennsylvania title.
The BMW E31 is the first generation of the BMW 8 Series and was produced from 1990 to 1999. This 1995 rust-free example is painted Hellrot red and features body-colored bumpers, pop-up headlamps, black moldings, black door handles, a sunroof, and a rebuilt exhaust system with straight pipes. The seller states that the vehicle was in a minor accident that resulted in a slight indentation to the front bumper. According to the CARFAX report, an accident with another vehicle was reported in January of 1999. The bumper was repainted once and comes with a protective cover.
Black 18-inch BMW wheels with BMW center caps are mounted inside of newer tires on all four corners. The suspension has been updated with replacement control arms, struts/shocks, rubber mounts, and bushings. An exterior walkaround video is posted below.
The interior is outfitted with tan leather upholstery for the front and rear bucket seats as well as matching carpeting and two-tone door panels and coordinating dashboard. There are black rubber floor mats and woodgrain trim is applied throughout the interior including the dashboard and center console. Amenities include heated front power seats, automatic climate control, an aftermarket JVC head unit, power windows, and a sunroof. The seller states that the window on the passenger side sometimes sticks when it is cold.
Instrumentation includes a 165-mph speedometer, a 7.5k-rpm tachometer, and readouts for the fuel level and coolant temperature. According to the seller, the six-digit digital odometer currently reads 145,267 miles.
The 4.0-liter V8 was factory rated to produce 282 horsepower. Recent maintenance includes replacing the valve covers, ignition coil, engine mounts, and an oil and filter change. The two newer trunk-mounted batteries are equipped with cutoff switches. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission with a console-mounted shift lever. A video below shows the car starting, idling, and revving.
As part of its mechanical updates, the car received new brake hardware and new differential seals. Photos showing the underside of the car are available in the gallery.
Sale includes maintenance records and receipts, two keys, a spare wheel/tire, a toolkit, and a protective bumper cover.

What color coolant do you use?

@LoganN – The hood closes perfectly fine, what you are seeing is the rubber piece between the hood and front clip sticking up. There was a minor indentation in the center of the grille from the accident and that was repaired. ...
Minor accident damaged the center front between the two air in-take (Bmw grill, narrow center piece) DAMAGE was present before purchasing vehicle from previous seller. No bows, bends or alignment issues with the hood or right or left panels . Feel free to request photos/video
@DMBrown – Photos of the front (especially #3 and #10) indicate that the “minor” accident left the hood bowed so badly that it no longer aligns with the full-width front fascia (with the BMW grill opening), which in turn does not align properly with the left front quarter panel. Can you address those issues and provide more information about the accident? Thanks! It’s a beautiful auto and very tempting. ...
