1974 MG Midget

This 1974 MG Midget roadster features maroon bodywork that was repainted under previous ownership and a black soft top over a tan vinyl interior equipped with a Kenwood radio with a cassette player, rear speakers, and Smiths instruments. Several parts have been updated, including the rebuilt dual carburetors, overhauled radiator, and replacement fuel pump and rear brake shoes and cylinders. Power comes from a 1.3-liter inline-four engine and is sent to the road through a four-speed manual gearbox and the rear 13-inch Rostyle wheels. Currently located in Arkansas, this MkIII Midget is available now from a dealer with repair manuals, a 1979 driver's handbook, service records, a boot cover, a scissor jack, a tire iron, and a clear title.

The previous owner had the body repainted in maroon. A black soft top with a tear in the right rear corner covers the two-seater interior and can be stowed away under a black cover, as the pictures in the photo gallery show. Brightwork is located on the headlight rings, grille and turn signal surrounds, front and rear wraparound bumpers, windshield frame, side mirror housings, door handles, rocker panel accent bar and "MIDGET" lettering, gas cap, taillight bezels, and dual exhaust finishers.

The car rolls on a set of 13-inch Rostyle wheels and Toyo Eclipse tires that were replaced under previous ownership.

Furnishings in the cabin include orange carpeting, tan vinyl bucket seats, and a matching dashboard and door panels. It is equipped with a three-spoke steering wheel, manual crank windows, an MG-branded wood shift knob, a Kenwood radio with a cassette player, and rear speakers.

The set of black-faced Smiths instruments includes a 7k-rpm tachometer, a 100-mph speedometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. A reading of 94K miles is displayed on the five-digit odometer.

Between the front fenders is a naturally aspirated 1.3-liter I4 engine fitted with a 60-amp alternator and a replacement fuel pump. Under previous ownership, the dual carburetors were rebuilt and the radiator was overhauled. An electronic ignition system was installed and the distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs, ignition coil, and battery were replaced in December of 2020. Output is sent to the road through a 4-speed manual transmission.

During the car's time with its previous owner, it received new rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders. The differential seal has also been replaced. Additional pictures of the car's underbody are available in the photo carousel to the right.
