This 1969 Oldsmobile 442 two-door hardtop underwent a cosmetic refurbishment and features refinished brightwork, contrast striping, front disc brakes, 18-inch Boss wheels, and a Borla dual exhaust system as well as a replacement bench seat and a Pioneer stereo. It draws its power from a 400ci V8 paired with a rebuilt two-speed automatic transmission, a replacement aluminum radiator, new cams and lifters, ceramic two-inch headers, and more. Finished in metallic green with white striping over a black vinyl interior, this custom 442 is now offered by a dealer with a window sticker, a build sheet, an owner’s manual, service records, and a clear Indiana title.
The 442 name first launched in model year 1964 as an option package for the F-85 and Cutlass models, but became a standalone model in 1968. The 442 leveraged General Motors’ A-body platform and received subtle cosmetic updates in 1969, including a partition between the grilles and modified taillights. This rust-free 1969 442 hardtop was repainted metallic green with white accent striping under prior ownership and features brightwork on the bumpers, badging, window trim, side mirrors, and Borla exhaust finishers.
Five-spoke 18-inch Boss aluminum wheels with polished lips are wrapped in Z-rated 255/45 front and 295/45 rear Nitto NT555 Extreme ZR tires. Braking has been upgraded to SSBC front discs along with a new brake booster. The refurbished suspension has replacement shock absorbers all around, new control arm bushings up front, and trailing arm bushings at the rear.
The interior is fitted with reupholstered TMI Pro Series black vinyl front and rear bench seating matched to the door panels, padded dash, carpeting, and floor mats. Features include a wood steering wheel, wood veneer dash accents, a Pioneer AM/FM/CD radio connected to new speakers, and tinted windows.
Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and warning lights for other vehicle systems. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 74k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The 400ci V8 was professionally rebuilt and balanced according to the detailed parts listing shown in the photo carousel. It received new Comp cams and lifters, new valve springs, an aluminum intake, and ceramic-coated two-inch headers. Additional equipment includes an aluminum radiator, aftermarket valve covers, and a Holley Double Pumper 750-cfm carburetor. The engine bay is accented with a billet distributor, water pump, pullies, air conditioning compressor, and power steering pump. In its current configuration, the powertrain was rated at 325 horsepower. Service includes a recent oil change and carburetor replacement. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a rebuilt 2-speed automatic transmission with new internals, a shift kit, and a reworked torque converter.
Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.
The sale includes an original window sticker, build sheet, owner’s manual, and maintenance records.
