This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was built on December 19, 1968, in Ford's San Jose, California factory with power steering and power front disc brakes and sold on January 2, 1969, through Jones Minto Ford Sales in Burlingame, California. Under previous ownership, it underwent a restoration that was completed approximately 15 years ago and received an engine and engine bay detailing as well. The seller has owned the car for the last 10 years and in that time has replaced the exhaust system, driveshaft, and door panels. Power comes from a 428 Cobra Jet paired with a four-barrel carburetor and a 4-speed manual transmission. It is currently kept in a heated garage in Alberta, Canada, and is available now with an uninstalled second set of wheels and tires, documentation, photos from its restoration process, a Marti Report, and a clear title in the seller's name.
For the 1969 model year, Ford introduced updated exterior styling for the Mustang and a new Mach 1 performance model with hood pins, racing mirrors, competition shocks and springs, dual exhaust, and low-gloss black exterior accents. According to its Marti Report, this particular 1969 Mach 1 rolled off of the assembly line with Raven Black paint and a matte black hood, but it was later repainted red. The seller believes the floor pans and fenders to be original. Features include chrome bumpers, Ram Air with a shaker hood scoop, black and yellow side stripes, black rear windshield louvers, black rear accent striping, and a black rear wing.
The car rolls on period correct 14-inch Magnum 500-style wheels and a set of Firestone Wide Oval tires with white sidewall lettering.
The cabin is furnished with black and red carpeting, black and wood-tone door panels, a black dual-cowl dashboard with matching trim, and vinyl front and fold-down rear bench seats. Given the state of the interior, the seller believes it was redone during the restoration process completed 15 years ago. Features include power steering, an AM radio, a center console, and an analog clock.
Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the coolant temperature and fuel level. The odometer shows 80K miles, approximately 3,000 of which the seller has added during their time with the car.
Under previous ownership, the 428 Cobra Jet was removed and detailed along with the engine bay. It comes equipped with a correct four-barrel carburetor and sends its power to the road through a toploader 4-speed manual transmission which was serviced and received a new 3rd gear synchro during the seller's ownership. The seller reports that the carburetor choke functions properly and that the radiator, exhaust and radiator are factory correct per part numbers.
Over the past decade, undercarriage components, the exhaust, and the driveshaft have been replaced; the transmission housing has been repainted; and the differential has been removed, serviced, and repainted. Braking is handled by power front discs and rear drums. Additional photos of the car's underbody are available in the picture gallery to the right.
The video below shows the car starting and idling as well as exterior, interior, and engine bay footage. An uninstalled second set of 15" magnum style wheels and tires, documentation, restoration process photos, and a Marti Report are included with the sale of the car.

@whereismycar – Waiting until spring shouldn't be too much of an issue unless you know someone who is bonded and insured already in your area who will be coming back to or thru Winnipeg with an enclosed trailer as once I buy something I prefer to take possession ASAP. in this way you won't be making a round trip or have to spend a night in a hotel with it taking about 13 hours to drive just on direction. What would you charge to deliver the car and is it an enclosed toy hauler? With reference to having an appraiser come out to look at your car It would still make me more comfortable to know the cars value so I can base my bid(s) accordingly. ...
Whereismycar I personally don’t know anybody bonded that could haul the car to Manitoba, your first choice to move the car should be an approve shipping company, if you decide otherwise then we can talk once the deal has been closed. As for an appraiser I am not ok with it sorry.

@whereismycar – Fair enough. Do you have any heating problems with the car as a friend also has a 428 Cobra Jet Mach 1 and besides running Premium 91 octane fuel he also has to put in a can of octane boost or the motor will heat up and knock. On initial cold start up do you get any blue smoke out of the tailpipes and if yes is the blue smoke constant or does it go away after several seconds? Does the speedometer/odometer, tach, clock and all other gauges work correctly? Is the 3.50 differential a Traction Lock ? Looking at one of the pictures it appears the floor pans are in good shape however that was one of the reasons I wanted an appraiser to look over the car in order to have a close look underneath the car as well if there is much if any bondo on the car (quality of restoration). In a previous conversation with a potential buyer you stated you would be willing to meet him at the U.S. border, if I were to be the winning bidder would you be willing to deliver the car to Winnipeg Manitoba for a fee. ...
Whereismycar Since I have owned the car it has never run above normal temp. I have never seen blue smoke come out of the exhaust, the motor run like a Swiss watch. All gauges work accurately, including speedometer and odometer as I disconnect the battery every time I park the car I have never really verified if the passenger dash clock is accurate but it definitely works. The diff as tag on picture is a 3.50 traction lock. You will find very little to no bond on that car, I actually had a friend check it out with a bondo thickness tester when I first got the car. As for delivery I have no issue dropping it off in Winnipeg as long as you wait till spring. Who knows maybe you'll want the toy hauler as well.

@whereismycar – I do have interest in this car however am hesitant to give out my credit card information to the auction company, which is required prior to me being registered as a bidder so they can bill me for the 6.5% buyer's premium, until I'm certain about the car. This would be my first time as an on line auction bidder so as this or even an in person buy want to be extra cautious. In some of the messages with other potential buyers you had stated they are welcome to come and look at the car in person. Would you be open to me making arrangements with an appraisal company and/or mechanic to come and look over your car? With a number of unknowns about the mechanical/restoration portion I would like to tick off some boxes so I may be confident in bidding. This is in no way any refection on yourself as a seller however you did mention the only leaks are in the rear crankshaft seal and the power steering pump where the former would be somewhat pricey to repair. The statement that you keep the car in a heated garage and you put the back end of the car up on jack stands and run the tranny through the gears in order to keep the fluids flowing leads me to believe you take very good car of this vehicle. ...
Whereismycar I thought long about your request and for all to be protected going through AutoHunter is fair to all. I have been very open with details and the condition of the car, for the last 10 years it has been treated with white gloves . I believe I stated that I could meet the one interested buyer at the boarder once all the paper work was done. Go ahead and ask any question you have to tick off your boxes, if I haven’t answered the question already or if I can’t I can bring in a mechanic to help me out. The power steering leak and back seal leak are minute and theres nothing an appraiser could do about it. If you like I can run the car and video the underneath to see how many droplet fall in 30 minutes or so. Keep in mind that cars from that era always had something that drip.

@whereismycar – Was the 15 year old restoration a frame on, frame off or rotisserie and do you have documentation/receipts of who did the resto? Notes indicate since you have owned the car one upgrade you made is replacing the door panels. Is it safe to assume these were the interior door panels and not the sheet metal outer door skins? Description also states when the restoration was done an engine and engine bay detailing was completed, has the engine ever been rebuilt and if yes how many miles ago. If the motor has never been rebuilt then it would be safe to assume the motor has a full 80,000 miles. There is mention that the transmission had the 3rd gear syncro replaced so not sure if the entire trans was gone thru or rebuilt at that time. Thanks much. ...
Whereismycar I don’t have any receipts or where or who restored the car sorry. It’s the internal door panels that were changed. I don’t know if the engine was rebuilt when it was put back into the compartment but most of the seal were leaking when I got the car so I changed the following gaskets, intake manifold, tappet covers, pan and timing chain cover including the chain. As this motor is not the original to the car I have no way of knowing how many miles it has, one thing is for sure it purrs and runs like new. Transmission issue It would come out of 3rd gear not when accelerating or decelerations but when you would be coasting. So the tranny was taken out and brought to a transmission shop and had a complete service. Parts ordered from David Kee Topploader and replaced, gasket set, Close ratio input shaft seal, cluster gear counter shaft, big block pilot bushing, McLeod throw out bearing, 3rd gear Close ratio and a speedometer cable. I also shipped and had the ford shifter serviced in the US but don’t remember the guys name. So yes it was completely rebuilt.
