This unmodified 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS Hot Wheels Edition convertible is #16 of the 52 "Festival" Camaros that commemorated the 2013 Indianapolis 500. According to the selling dealer, it is the car that winning driver Tony Kanaan and KV Racing Technology team owners Kevin Kalkhoven and Jimmy Vasser rode in after the race to celebrate their victory. It comes equipped with the RS Appearance Package as well as the Hot Wheels Edition package, which adds a ZL1 upper grille; a black stripe down the middle of the hood, trunk lid, and rear spoiler; a ground effects package; black and silver 21-inch wheels with a red stripe; and a blacked-out taillight panel. Hot Wheels logos are located on the grille, front fenders, and rear decklid as well as the door sills and the heated power-adjustable front bucket seats. Other features include keyless entry, remote start, cruise control, navigation, and a head-up display. Power comes from an L99 6.2-liter V8 and is delivered to the road by a 6-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in Kinetic Blue with 2013 Indianapolis 500 graphics and a black power-folding fabric top over a black leather interior, this fifth-generation Camaro droptop is available now and comes with its window sticker, factory manuals, two keys, recall service documentation, a clean Carfax report, a clear California title, and more.
At the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Chevrolet introduced the Hot Wheels Edition as a package for Camaro 2LT and 2SS coupe and convertible models. All of them came finished in Kinetic Blue with a ZL1 upper grille, ground effects that included a front splitter and side skirts, a black graphic down the middle of the car, a black taillight panel, and Hot Wheels logos on the grille, front fenders, and trunk lid. This particular SS convertible features the RS Appearance Package and served as one of the 52 "Festival" cars for the 2013 Indianapolis 500, which involved the addition of a "Camaro" windshield banner and graphics on the doors and rear fenders. As shown in the photo gallery, it also transported winning driver Tony Kanaan, his wife Lauren Bohlander, KV Racing Technology team owners Kevin Kalkhoven and Jimmy Vasser, a press representative, and a driver during a post-race celebratory lap.
Another part of the Hot Wheels Edition treatment was a set of black and silver 21-inch five-spoke wheels with a red stripe. The tires on this car are Z-rated Pirelli P Zeros with 2012 date codes and measure 245/40 in the front and 275/35 in the rear.
Inside, the car is furnished with a black leather interior trimmed with red and black seat stitching, Camaro-branded floor mats with red edging, and Hot Wheels logos on the door sills and front seatbacks. Features include keyless entry, remote start, cruise control, heated and power-adjustable front buckets, a center console with two cupholders, paddle shifters, a head-up display, a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Boston Acoustics speakers, and a pair of rear bucket seats.
Instrumentation consists of a 180-mph speedometer, a 9k-rpm tachometer, a multi-information screen, and gauges for the coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer displays a reading of 7,908 miles, which is consistent with the mileage last indicated in November of 2021 on the Carfax report. A separate bank of instruments behind the shift lever shows readouts for the oil pressure, battery voltage, oil temperature, and transmission temperature.
Under the hood is a naturally aspirated L99 6.2-liter V8 with Active Fuel Management that was factory rated to produce 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. It sends its output to the road through a 6-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip rear differential. The 7,500-mile service was performed along with an oil and filter change in January of 2020.
Additional photos showing the condition of the car's underbody are available in the picture gallery to the right.
The window sticker, a Pre-Delivery Inspection Form, factory manuals, two keys, a tonneau cover with instructions and a storage bag, and temporary tags and registration from 2013 are included with the sale of the vehicle. In addition, it comes with a Penske Vehicle Order Form, an Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles Authorization for Use of Civic Event License Plate form pertaining to the 2013 Indianapolis 500, documentation for recall service related to the ignition key and top, and other forms.
