This 1953 Ford F-250 is a rolling project truck powered by an 302ci V8 engine that has been with the seller for the past six years. In that time, it has received new drum brakes, radiator, 12-volt electrical system, single-wire alternator, and new shoulder seat belts. Features include a floor-shifted 4-speed manual transmission, a bed with wood slats, and running boards. Finished in Meadow Green over a brown interior, this F-250 is now offered with an original shop manual and a clear Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The second-generation Ford F-series debuted for the 1953 model year with new styling including a wraparound windshield and new doors. The body of this F-250 rolling project truck is finished in Meadow Green from a rattle can complemented by an off-white grille, running boards, and brightwork surrounding the headlight rings, side mirrors, and door handles. Per the seller, there is no rust underneath this truck, but there are dents in the running boards, roof, and cab.
Steel wheels with polished hub caps are wrapped in black-sidewall tires, which the seller recommends replacing.
The interior is furnished with black rubber flooring, shoulder belts, a patterned cloth bench seat cover, green and cab-color door panels, and a cab-color dashboard.
Instrumentation is framed by a three-spoke steering wheel and includes a 90-mph speedometer and other readouts. Per the seller, all of the original gauges are non-operational. Functional aftermarket gauges include those for the battery, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The true mileage is unknown, but the truck has been driven approximately 50 to 100 miles since it was acquired six years ago.
The 302ci V8 was sourced from a 1980s Ford F-150 under previous ownership and comes equipped with a new three-core radiator and single-wire alternator. Power is directed to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission and a 4.88 rear end. According to the seller, the carburetor may need to be rebuilt. The steering box requires a rebuild in order for the truck to be driven on the highway. In addition, the tail shaft of the transmission and the master cylinder leak. In the videos below, the truck is shown being started and driven.
Additional photos showing the underside of the vehicle are available in the gallery to the right.
An original shop manual is included with the sale of the vehicle.
