Vehicle Story

This 1963 Jaguar Mark 2 is a show-winning four-door luxury sedan with woodgrain interior trim, wire wheels, a modern audio system, and a 3.8-liter inline-6 paired with an aftermarket 4-speed 700R4 automatic transmission. According to documentation from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, this Mark 2 was manufactured November 14, 1961, then later sold to its original owner in Richmond, Virginia. It has spent the last 17 years in Arizona. Finished in white over a saddle leather interior, this Mark 2 is now offered with awards, uninstalled original and spare parts, a tool kit, and a clear Arizona title in the seller’s name.

The Mark 2 was built in Coventry, England as a successor to the Mark I, incorporating improved visibility, larger exterior lamps, and a restyled body. This Mark 2 four-door sedan from 1963 was repainted white and is said to have been in Arizona for the last 17 years. The brightwork is largely original. Additional equipment includes fog lamps, fender-mounted side mirrors, rear fender skirts, and “MK 2” badging on the trunk lid.

Wire 15-inch wheels with knock-off spinner caps are wrapped in black-sidewall tires.

The interior is trimmed with saddle leather bucket seating and color-matched lap belts, door panels, and carpeting. Glossy woodgrain trim is located on the dash, A-pillars, door panels, and the aftermarket Moto-Lita replacement steering wheel. Amenities include an Alpine AM/FM/CD radio with four Alpine speakers and tray tables for the rear passengers.

Instrumentation consists of a rebuilt 140-mph speedometer, a 6K-rpm tachometer, and dash-mounted gauges for the coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 49k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The 3.8-liter I6 engine received replacement bearings, a new oil pan, new timing chain cover gaskets, and a Crane ignition module, distributor, and voltage regulator. The powerplant features K&N filters on dual SU carburetors and has been further upgraded with a Ron Davis racing radiator, a 12-volt electrical system, and more as shown in the documentation in the photo carousel. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 4-speed GM 700R4 automatic transmission.

When the Mark 2 came out, it featured revised suspension geometry with a wider rear track and a live axle. This Mark 2 received Koni front and rear shocks, replacement rear springs, and replacement wheel hubs with new bearings under current ownership. The newer XJ power steering rack was rebuilt in 2021. Braking is supplied by four-wheel Wilwood discs, a new booster, a replacement master cylinder, and stainless-steel lines.

The vehicle comes with show awards received, a tool kit, and uninstalled parts including the stock intake manifold and air cleaner, the original steering wheel, and other components.
