This 2001 Honda S2000 is an unmodified two-seat roadster that has driven 39,452 miles since new and is powered by a 2.0-liter VTEC inline-4 paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. This S2000 was sold new in Illinois and was later relocated to Minnesota in 2008, remaining garage-kept and retaining its original interior and exterior finishes which have been well-kept. Finished in Silverstone Metallic with a black retractable top over a black leather interior, this second-year AP1 S2000 is now offered by the selling dealer with a clean CARFAX report and a clear Minnesota title.
The S2000 roadster two-door sports car launched for the 2000 model year on the AP1 chassis designation with production taking place in Tochigi, Japan. This S2000 from the second model year is painted Silverstone Metallic (NH-630M) and features a black cloth power-retractable roof with a plastic rear window. Finishes around the perimeter are straight, glossy, and rust-free, and the body features integrated xenon headlamps, roll hoops, a convertible boot, a trunk-mounted LED brake lamp, and dual polished rear exhausts. The seller has provided images of VIN tags which remain affixed in the factory-applied locations, as well as images showing some scratches on the lower edges of the front bumper.
Machined aluminum 16” five-spoke wheels are wrapped in mixed Kumho and Yokohama tires with good tread remaining. Handling is assisted by power steering and power four-wheel disc brakes, while suspension underpinnings feature a double-wishbone setup with electric power steering.
The two-seat interior is fitted with black leather bucket seats split by a center console and matched to the door panels, dash, carpeting, and embroidered floor mats. The seller notes that there is minor wear on the driver side seat bolster. Cabin amenities include a push-button ignition, factory AM/FM/CD stereo, air conditioning, power windows, power mirrors, power door locks, power mirrors, cruise control, and aluminum pedals.
Instrumentation includes a digital speedometer and sweeping 9k-rpm tachometer, along with gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The digital odometer reads 39,452 miles, which is a true reading supported by the CARFAX report.
The 2.0-liter F20C DOHC inline-4 features Honda VTEC variable-valve timing and was factory rated at 237 horsepower and 153 lb-ft of torque when new. The motor received an oil and filter change in October 2021 per the CARFAX report, and a maintenance inspection was also carried out at Luther Mankato Honda in Mankato, Minnesota in September 2021. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a console-shifted close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential.

The CARFAX report illustrates history free of accidents or damage.

If you’re “on the fence” about this car, get down and buy it. I test drove a new one in 2001 and will always regret not buying it. Faster than a spotted ass ape, stiff frame and nimble. Don’ t confuse this with a Miata. It’s much larger and seriously BAD-ASS.
