This 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T is a B-body convertible powered by a period-correct 440ci big-block V8 connected to three two-barrel carburetors and a 4-speed manual gearbox. Features include a lift-off hood with a center scoop and pins, a power-folding top, dual side scoops, wraparound rear striping, and dual exhaust outlets. Inside, it comes equipped with power brakes, front bucket seats, a center console, an AM/FM/CD stereo, and auxiliary gauges. Finished in Hemi Orange with a black top over a black vinyl interior, this fifth-generation Coronet is available now and comes with a clear Florida title from the selling dealer.
For the 1968 model year, Dodge gave its Coronet line of two- and four-door sedans, four-door wagons, two-door hardtops, and convertibles "Coke bottle" styling. This particular 1968 drop-top was repainted Hemi Orange and features a black grille insert, flat black lift-off hood with a center scoop, black power-folding fabric convertible top, black striping that wraps around the trunk lid and rear quarter panels, and a black rear panel that surrounds the tri-bar taillights. Brightwork accents include the front and rear bumpers, hood pins, driver-side mirror housing, and wheel arch and rocker panel moldings.
The front Magnum 500-style wheels are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The matching rear wheels are set inside of race-ready tires, according to the selling dealer.
The cabin is furnished with an all-black combination of front bucket seats, a rear bench seat, door panels, dashboard, and carpeting. The center console features woodgrain trim and houses the shifter for the manual gearbox. Features include power brakes, front headrests, door panel armrests, and an aftermarket AM/FM/CD audio head unit.
Instrumentation consists of a Tic Toc Tach, a 150-mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, and readouts for other levels. A trio of white-faced auxiliary gauges is mounted under the dashboard above the center console. The selling dealer reports the odometer shows 88,391 miles.
Under the hood is a period-correct 440ci big-block V8 connected to three 2-barrel carburetors and a 4-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. Features include chrome Mopar-branded valve covers, an orange open-element air cleaner with a 440 Six Pack label, a power brake booster, and a dual-circuit master cylinder.
The engine breathes through a dual exhaust system with cutouts and Flo~Pro mufflers. A chrome cover has been installed on the rear differential. Additional pictures of the underbody are available in the photo carousel to the right.
