Vehicle Story

This garage-kept 1966 Mustang coupe has been with the same family since new and is powered by a 289ci V8 backed by a 3-speed manual transmission. Features include dual headlights, chrome bumpers, manual brakes and steering, and full wheel covers with spinners. This refinished Raven Black Mustang coupe with a red vinyl interior comes with records and receipts going back to the 1980s and is available now with a clear title.

This Mustang has been with the same family since it was purchased new in 1967 and it was passed through the family and used often as a daily driver into the 1980s. The body was repainted in the original color of Raven Black (code A) by Maaco in the late 1980s or early 1990s. Features include dual headlights, a fender-mounted antenna, a manual remote driver-side mirror, chrome bumpers, reverse lights, rocker moldings, a Mustang-branded rear fuel cap, and an aftermarket trailer hitch. The seller states that the passenger door is not original to the car and shows some bubbling. A video of the car can be seen in the carousel to the right.

A set of 14-inch steel wheels with 1965 Mustang hubcaps with spinners are wrapped in whitewall radial tires. The seller states that the tires hold air, but should be replaced due to age.

The front bucket seats and rear seats are covered in red vinyl. Features include red rear trim and door panels, a white headliner, manual windows, red carpet with aftermarket red and black floor mats, a 3-speed floor-mounted shifter, an aftermarket center console with cup holders, a red steel dashboard with a maroon top pad, the reportedly original AM radio, and a red three-spoke steering wheel.

A 140-mph speedometer and gauges for monitoring the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and amps are mounted in an original panel ahead of the driver. The seller states the five-digit odometer has turned over and the car has 153,226 miles on it.

This Mustang is powered by the reportedly original 289ci V8 backed by a 3-speed manual transmission. Features include original engine paint, a blue closed-element air filter housing with a 289ci decal, and cast-iron exhaust manifolds. The seller states that an appraiser noted that the engine may have been rebuilt in the past, but this is not verified.

This unibody Mustang was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a leaf spring-mounted solid rear axle. Braking is provided by manual four-wheel drum brakes.

Records and receipts, including one for the Maaco paint job, going back to the 1970s and 1980s, with one being dated from 1971 are included with the sale of the car.

Hi and thanks for your questions! The paint is only bubbling on the bottom of the passenger door. The rest of the car is rust free. We have repair receipts dating from 1971 through 2018. It has a new battery but we didn't keep that receipts. They go with the car. We also have the original registration from the dealership to my parents with the original price on it. The shifting is smooth, it runs great and love the sound of the engine. Hope that helps!

Any more photos of the rust blubbing on doors, rockers and fenders? Any original documentation included in sale? How does it run and drive? How is transmission syncos upshifting and downshifting smooth through all gears?
